Al Stevens is one of the well known authors from The United States who has written a few successful books based on the science fiction, thriller, and mystery genres. Initially, he used to write books based on computer programming languages as well as several articles. But now, he has retired and spends most of his time writing fiction and mystery novels. Author Stevens is also a good jazz musician. He was born in Dorsey, The United States. During the later part of his writing career, author Stevens got very much influenced from the popular works of prominent authors like Steinbeck, Faulkner, Kurt Vonnegut, Bill Mauldin, etc. This helped him to shift his focus towards writing mystery and fiction novels. Currently, author Stevens is working on the development of the novels in the Stanley Bentworth Mystery series. The initial few novels of this novel series have been very much successful. They have helped author Stevens to get some very good response from the readers as well as the critics. This motivated him to continue writing more books in the series. The current novel that he is writing is about to get finished and will be released very soon in the coming days. All the books in the Stanley Bentworth series feature the lead character in the form of Stanley Bentworth, who keeps himself busy solving the mysteries that take place around him.

Author Stevens has been writing articles and magazines for the last 25 years. Among his most frequently published books are the computer programming, fiction, and several other usage books. As a Programming columnist of the C language, author Stevens used to work for the Dr. Dobb’s Journal between the years 1988 and 2003. Apart from this, he has also given a number of performances as a jazz musician. He has to his name many recording and performance credits. Author Stevens can has developed his skills to play a number of musical instruments such as piano, saxophone, string bass, valve trombone, and trumpet. He has written and published more than a couple of dozen books based on the computer programming languages as well as countless number of magazine articles. The Dr. Dobb’s Journal, for which author Stevens has worked for around 15 years as a Programming Columnist, is a very well known magazine among the computer programmers at the international level. As of today, author Al Stevens lives happily in his house located in Florida. His happy family consists of his wife named Judy and several pet cats. Whenever author Stevens gets any spare time from his writing works, he likes to go out and play music along with the local jazz groups. Very recently, he also developed the art of comedy and has started giving performances as a comedy ventriloquist.

The well known mystery series written by author Al Stevens is titled as the ‘Stanley Bentworth Mysteries’. This mystery series is comprised of a total of 7 books which were released between the years 2011 and 2015. Each and every book in this series depicts the central character in the form of the protagonist named Stanley Bentworth. Throughout the series, he is shown trying to solve one or the other mystery revolving around him. The cases that he gets involved in often deal with murders, blackmailing, robbery, etc. The debut book written by author Stevens in the Stanley Bentworth Mystery series was published under the title ‘On the Street Where You Die’. This book was released by the Mockingbird Songs and Stories publishing company in the year 2011. At the beginning of the novel, it is shown that Stanley Bentworth is not as tough as he looks. He used to work as a homicide detective previously, but he was shown the doors because of his excessive drinking habits.

After becoming jobless, he decided to start his own detective agency and eventually started running a one man private investigating agency. The cases that come to him are mostly related to the persons who do not want them to be found. Stanley thinks of himself to be a soft boiled detective, and therefore, he willingly rejects all the tough assignments coming his way. When recession strikes, jobs become very less for Stanley. So, he is forced to accept difficult jobs. One such job is brought to him by a wealthy financier, who was previously a mob enforcer. He asks Stanley to find a blackmailer as he is stuck in a life & death situation. If Stanley fails in completing the job successfully, there is possibility that the blackmailer might kill his client. Even Stanley faces the danger of meeting a similar fate. In the end, the search for the blackmailer turns into a hunting contest between Stanley Bentworth and the blackmailer. Stanley takes each step very carefully as he does not want himself and his client to die at the hands of the blackmailer.

One of the other books published early in the series is titled as ‘White Collar Murders’. This book was also released by the Mockingbird Songs & Stories company in the year 2014. The story depicted in this book shows the plot when Stanley Bentworth used to work as a homicide cop. At the start of the book, it is shown that Stanley Bentworth finds it very much difficult to get over with his drinking habits. Therefore, his Captain orders him to take a month off in order to deal with his problem of drinking. Stanley always considers himself as a soft-boiled detective and so he is able to take tough decisions in his life. For the off period, he accepts an invitation from an old friend to work as the head of security in a high tech corporation. Thinking that this job will give a relief from the pressures of small town homicide investigations, he accepts the offer to work in a security system. His primary job is to supervise a staff of rented and inexperienced cops. But soon, one of the executives from the company is found dead with a gunshot and as a result, Stanley Bentworth once again finds himself at the center of a homicide investigation. Only this time, the level of difficulty is even more because of the addition of domestic terrorism and corporate espionage. All the time during the investigation, Stanley is forced to butt his head with his local police counterparts which makes things more difficult for him. At a time when he must be resting or taking up a less stressful job, Stanley is stuck in the middle of a heartless, sinister, and cold world of the corporate finance, discovering new stressful things in his life.
