Characters in the Series
Without a doubt, the 3 characters who make this series are Krissy Hancock, Officer John Buchannan and the killer.
Krissy Hancock: With all the murders happening in her store and the killer making it seem that she is the one behind it all, it is remarkable to see how she becomes quite the super detective. From all the lengths she is prepared to take and how she prepares to deal with anyone who will prevent her from achieving her goals make her thrilling. She is determined and she has everything to lose when she fails to prove her innocence. As you see her on this journey, you begin to understand what kind of person she is and empathize with her situation.
Officer John Buchannan: As someone who has been employed by the state to ensure that justice is served and that culprits are charges and kept behind bars to prevent them from harming anyone, his work is very simple, or is it? While he struggles to find all that he needs to pin the murder on Krissy, it becomes difficult for him to do his job while the person whom he believed to be the killer is also trying to prove her innocence. The tail spins of how things go on his adventure and the people he uses to get what he wants makes him quite the hunter. He is the law and the law should be upheld no matter who you are.
The Killer: Alex Erickson depiction of this character is nothing short of amazing. His witty abilities and how he manages to be elusive from all and still manages to kill people in Pine Hills is remarkable. Even when all measures have been taken by Krissy and the officer to ensure that there are no more murders being committed, he still manages to kill a competitor during the book competition even before it has began. With his antics threatening the close of the Death by Coffee store, it is interesting to see to what lengths he/she is willing to go to ensure that he/she gets want they want.
Although the second series of Death by Tea is yet to be released, its plot makes for a wonderful expectance seeing the success of the first book by Alex Erickson. His writing prowess is nothing short of amazing. His depiction of the characters and how they all interact without the knowledge of who the next victim for the killer will be is quite remarkable.
Erickson also has gone a step further to show the mind of the killer working against that of Krissy and it is up to you to figure out who will outwit the other as you read along while the both of them are being chased by the officer. This bookstore café mystery is one that you are not able to see what is coming next. With no shortage of suspects in this tale, funny scenes, coffee, bumbling amateur sleuth, it makes great for an afternoon reading. It contains just the right mix of humor and mystery.Book Series In Order » Authors » Alex Erickson
