Arcadian Genesis is a prequel to the series.

The Alex Hunter series is written by Greig Beck, who is an Australian novelist who has a career in Information Technology but is passionate about writing horror, mystery & thrillers, science fiction and fantasy novels. His first novel was published in the year 2009, in which he introduced the character Captain Alex Hunter to the readers. Apart from the Alex Hunter series, Greig Beck has also published other series, namely, The First Bird Series and The Valkeryn Chronicles. The First Bird Series involves a reluctant archeologist who ventures into those parts of the worlds where no one dares to set foot but for him these are the calling for adventure. The Valkeryn series describes the war of two different worlds – modern and ancient which will keep the readers captivated till the very end.

Alex Hunter:

The protagonist of the jaw dropping and spine chilling thriller novels written by Greig Beck is Captain Alex Hunter. Captain Alex Hunter is the kind of super soldier we drool over in several movies who is sent on precarious missions to rescue people who are trapped in unprecedented situations. Hunter’s team imbibes of commandos who are eminently trained by him. After taking a bullet to the brain which elevated his senses, made him stronger and faster; Captain Alex Hunter has almost inhuman abilities. His par excellence reflexes and impeccable strength is what makes Hunter’s character rather intriguing and keeps the readers engaged.

In the first book, Beneath the Dark Ice the Arcadian is sent on a mission with his highly trained team and a bunch of scientists to Antarctica. Their first mission is to find a missing plane which has crashed through the ice which infamously has humungous deposit of oil underneath it. The rescue and research team follow the trail but fail to find any survivors or rather even a trace of a residue. Meanwhile, the news of this research and rescue teams reaches Russia, they send their own team of trained professional to hunt down Captain Alex and eliminate him. Meanwhile, in their rescue journey, the story witnesses a brewing romance between Alex Hunter and one of the scientists Dr. Aimee Weir. However, on their path to the adventure they discover not oil but something more dangerous and terrifying which hunts and kills to endure. On this mysterious and adventurous journey, the readers will find action, adventure and a story that mingles with modern science and ancient fiction.

The second novel Dark Rising, Alex Hunter is sent to the desert of Iran to detect the threat of a possible Gamma radiation along with his incursion team. The intriguing part in the novel is that Alex Hunter has been sent by the US government to discover the technology and the Israelis sent two agents to discover everything about the Arcadian. When they reach there, they find only an underground facility which is devoid of any lab, any scientists or rather any radiation. The pressure is enhanced due to the threat by Israelis to wage a nuclear war and alongside the codes of Arcadian have been stolen. When another gamma radiation is detected, Alex Hunter is supposed to go to the deepest part of the ancient caves of Arak to find the source. However, what Alex finds is not a lab or a scientist rather a creature which would bring the end of mankind as we know it.

In the third Alex Hunter adventure, This Green Hell readers witness the reunion of Alex Hunter with his previous muse Dr. Aimee Weir. The petro biologist is in trouble in the jungles of Paraguay although she has found what she was looking for. The microorganism she finds in the natural gas deposit is killing everyone who comes in contact with it. Although the camp is quarantined, people start to disappear. No one knows why people are vanishing in thin air, Alex Hunter is sent to the rescue. It’s been quite a while Alex and Aimee have seen each other and while Aimee doesn’t admit she needs Alex more than ever. In order to contain the outbreak, Alex Hunter and his team have to tackle the danger which threatens the survival of mankind. But the key here is to survive to complete the mission or any chance of success.

Alex Hunter is the kind of character which is a good man with all his inhuman qualities. Author Greig Beck does a commendable job in keeping the reader engaged with amazing plot twist. With the fascinating merging of modern science with ancient mythology, the author presents quite a prolific writing which is unique in several ways. The readers are offered it all – be it adventure, action, mystery and horror. All the elements of an intricate mystery novel are found in the Alex Cross series. It is advisable that the readers begin with the first novel in the series to have an appropriate background of the protagonist and to understand the complete compilation. With every novel, the reader will find how the character develops and they will find a connection with Alex Hunter. Alex Hunter on the other hand definitely stands out as not only a super soldier but also a good human being fighting evil against all odds. The detailing and precision of the military techniques and the how the military operates as a whole are quite profoundly expressed by the Author.

Greig Beck also displays his distinctive scientific and speculative fiction skills in his other series which are definitely worth the read. It is not every day you find an Author who can pull off such intriguing scientific imagination as Greig Beck does. The other two series are impeccable example of the same. The First Bird will make you explore your imagination and think of the unthinkable. While The Valkeryn will leave you spell bounded and begging for more. Both these are a great and perfect mix of ancient meets modern.

I love Alex Hunter, even though I’m old enough to be his mother, but please put me out of my misery, will you? Will he and Amie (and Joshua) ever get their HEA? I’ve read most of the books, but I don’t think I have read those published in 2019 and 2021 yet. Thank you.
