Amanda Lee is one of the pseudonyms used by the famous American author of the mystery genre, Gayle Trent. She has used the pen name to write down a cozy mystery series named the Embroidery Mystery series.

Apart from writing mystery novels, Gayle has also written a number of other novels series’ based on the thriller and fiction genres. Under her real name, she has written a couple of successful mystery series featuring the main characters Daphne Martina and Myrtle Crumb.

Gayle has used one more pseudonym named Holly Jordan, which she has used to write a few stand alone novels based on the mystery genre. By writing the Embroidery Mystery series under the name of Amanda Lee, author Gayle Trent has once again become successful in making a name for herself in the world of prominent mystery authors, as she is already an established mystery author under her real name Gayle Trent.

As of today, she lives in West Virginia along with her husband and a couple of beautiful children, a girl and a boy. Other than being a full time author, Gayle considers herself to be a perfect mother, a wife, an editor, a bottle washer and chief cook. However, she says that she enjoys playing all the roles and loves every minute of it as it provides her some needful time with her family, away from the constant writing works.

As Amanda Lee, she is proud to have introduced the characters of Daphne Martin and Marcy Singer. She has described Daphne Martin as a cake decorator in the Daphne Martin series and Marcy Singer as an embroidery shop owner in the Embroidery Mystery series. The Embroidery series written by her is set on the Oregon Coast and features some very interesting cozy mystery novels. The series features Marcy Singer as a woman of around 30 years, who is very spunky and handy with the needle in her embroidery shop.

Currently, author Gayle Trent is working on her Daphne Martin series, which features the main protagonist Daphne Martin as a 40 year old divorced woman, who returns to Brea Ridge, her fictional hometown in Virginia in order to start a new life. She has divorced her husband, as he tried to take her life and as a result, landed himself in prison. After returning to her hometown, Daphne hopes of making a fresh start as a cake decorator. She begins to run a cake decorating company from her home called as Daphne’s Delectable Cakes. This new venture allows Daphne to live close to her beloved nephew and niece, even though she faces some complications.

She also gets the chance of reuniting with her childhood friend named Ben Jacobs, who still has a very hot personality. Soon, the mysteries begin to take place in the life of Daphne with the death of her first client. The series helped author Gayle Trent to become a successful author and this allowed her to write a few more highly interesting novels in her career. She gives all the credit of her success to her family as she believes that they always motivate and support her in whatever she does and this creates a positive environment suitable for writing mystery novels.

The series features the main female protagonist as Marcy Singer, who is depicted as an entrepreneur at the age of 30 plus and owning an embroidery shop located in a small town on the coast of Oregon. The first novel of the series was published by the NAL publishing house in the year 2010. It was titled ‘The Quick and the Thread’. The plot of the is set in Tallulah Falls, Oregon in the United States and features Marcy Singer as the central character.

The novel was described by the publishers as the first in a fresh, new and intriguing mystery series that had the potential of keeping the readers itching and stitching for more. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, Marcy Singer is shown as opening an embroidery shop in the quaint town of Tallulah Falls in Oregon, United States. Soon, many people come to sign up for the embroidery classes run by her in her shop after she throws a Stitch-In and a soiree. And in very less time, Marcy’s sign up sheet gets completely filled. Her embroidery shop, Seven Year Stitch becomes very famous among the people of the town of Tallulah Falls.

Almost everyone from the town begins to support her embroidery shop by raising a glass or a needle. Marcy becomes overwhelmed by seeing the willingness of the people of the town to support her newly opened shop. However, things begin to take an ugly turn when Marcy finds the dead body of one of the previous tenants of the shop in the store room. The murderer had scratched a warning message on the wall of the storeroom with the help of a tapestry needle. As a result, the famous embroidery shop of Marcy Singer becomes a crime scene which also makes her the prime suspect in the murder. Now, she is required to find the real killer an prove her innocence to the police and the people of the town of Tallulah Falls before the killer pushes her into a graver danger or makes her his next victim.

The second novel of the series written by Amanda Lee was published under the title ‘Stitch Me Deadly’.

The novel was published by the Obsidian publishing house in the year 2011. The plot of the novel continues to depict the difficult life of protagonist Marcy Singer in the town of Tallulah Falls in Oregon, where she owns an embroidery shop. When Marcy had opened her new embroidery shop in the town, she considered it to be a great deal for herself. But, she was destined to face other big deals mysteriously by getting confronted by a crafty killer. In the opening plot of the second novel of the series, Marcy’s best friend Sadie is described as owning a coffee shop near the Seven Year Stitch embroidery shop owned by Marcy Singer in the town of Tallulah Falls in Oregon.

Sadie has a practical mascot for her coffee shop named Angus, who is an Irish wolfhound. Soon, trouble seems to approach Marcy Singer once again when an old woman brings a costly and antique piece of embroidery to her shop and suddenly dies due to unknown reasons. Praying constantly for not landing in trouble once again, Marcy finds that the sample of antique embroidery brought by the elderly woman in her shop might be holding a clue to a an even more dangerous crime. She seemed to be convinced that someone might have tried to hide the clue in order to save himself from getting caught. Determined to solve the mystery of the antique piece of embroidery and the death of the elderly woman, Marcy sets out to investigate and unravel the mystery with the help of her friend Sadie and her pet dog.

    Living in West Virginia now, I enjoyed the Witches or the Midwest Series, not only because the story line was great, but because the story was set in my old stomping ground in Michigan.

    Angus is Marcy’s dog. Sadie is her best friend from college. I am reading the last book, published in 2016. I was hoping there were more out there I could have a librarian request from another library. It’s too good to stop now! I love this series!
