After winning a number of writing awards, Amy Jarecki found her calling within the genre of Scottish historical romance. Affectionately referring to her written work as “adventure kissed by romance,” Amy already has several successful historical romance novels under her belt. What’s more, Amy’s name is quickly becoming synonymous with the alluring and provocative yet seductively dark and dangerous era of pirates and Lowlands in ancient Scotland. Garnering quite a following and climbing the Bestsellers list on Amazon, Amy shows no signs of stopping or slowing down between releases within her historical Scottish romance series anytime in the near future.

Early and Personal Life

Although she is an American author, Amy’s heart will forever belong to Scotland. A descendant of an ancient Lowland clan, Amy returned to the land of her ancestors to obtain her MBA from the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. In the days since, she has returned to the United States and now resides in Southern Utah with her husband. Despite settling down here in America, Amy continues to draw inspiration from her heritage and wealth of European experiences, specifically those based on the time spent studying in Scotland. This influence is apparent in the description-rich, research-based narrative of her historical romance novels.

Amy currently serves as the co-president of the Heritage Writers Guild, a member of the Celtic Hearts Chapter of the Romance Writers of America. She frequently lectures on an array of writing topics. Additionally, Amy blogs regularly. In her personal blog, Amy shares excerpts from unpublished manuscripts and includes updates on books within her series that are yet to be released. She is also very active on social media, and loves the opportunity to hear from and interact with her readers whenever possible.

Writing Career

Boy Man Chief, Amy’s first novel, was published in January 2014. This book tells the tale of a star-crossed romance between a Native American warrior Koicto and the beautiful Pavati, his love interest. Koicto has ambitions of becoming chief of the Nahchee Nation, but the Tribe Elders declare that it is Koicto’s destiny to serve as the Nahchee shaman, also known as the medicine man. The Tribe Elders disregard Koicto’s love for Pavati, instead forcing him into an arranged marriage with another woman from the tribe. In light of these events and in addition to the fact that his tribe is on the brink of war, Koicto decides to carve out his own destiny. If he fails, his tribe will be no more. If he succeeds, he will finally be able to prove his worthiness as a leader and protect his people from the bloodshed of the fast-approaching war. A riveting period piece, Boy Man Chief was well-received by book critics and netted notable accolades including the League of Utah Writers award for Best Manuscript as well as the St. George Spark Book Award.

Amy has since been honored with numerous other writing awards. When it comes to her present publications, Amy continues to enchant readers with equal parts adventure and passion. However, she now concentrates on presenting historical romance novels in series format and has shifted her historic focus to ancient Scotland. Her efforts have been met with great success. In November 2014, Amy’s first Scottish romance novel Captured by the Pirate Laird reached #24 on Amazon’s bestseller list.

Captured by the Pirate Laird: Highland Force – Book One

Amy set the bar high for her first-ever book series: Highland Force. Captured by Pirate Laird, book one in the series, was named an Amazon Overall Bestseller, ranking #1 in the Scottish Historical Romance category shortly after its initial publication.

The book begins with an arranged marriage at sea between Lady Anne and a tyrant-like baron old enough to be her grandfather. Before the marriage is to take place, the ship is attacked by pirates. Lady Anne hides as a battle rages on the deck above her. When a Highlander kicks the door in, she believes death is imminent. However, Laird Calum MacLeod, the Highlander, has another purpose for plundering the ship and the senseless death of Lady Anne, the striking young English woman, was not in his plan. Instead of killing her, he takes Anne to his dilapidated hideaway on a secluded island and sends a letter of ransom to her would-be husband. After the letter is sent and time goes, on Lady Anne begins to understand her captor and find it increasingly difficult to his rugged charm. When the baron sends a reply agreeing to terms, Lady Anne and Laird Calum must then decide if they will risk everything– their lives included– to pursue their forbidden love for one another.

The Highland Henchman: Highland Force – Book Two

Immediately following the success of Captured by the Pirate Laird, Amy released her second book in the Highland Force series. Highland Henchman was met with a welcome reception by Amy’s rapidly growing following and also made an appearance on the Amazon Bestsellers list.

In The Highland Henchman, readers follow Bran McLeod, a handsome young Scot traveling south in the company of his laird. At the beginning of the story, Bran has ambitions of winning a Lowlander’s tournament and that is seemingly his only concern. As the narrative unfolds, Brand begins to find himself unexpectedly distracted by the lively and luscious Miss Enya Ross. Enya is a baron’s daughter, so Bran initially finds it a waste of his time to pine over a woman he can never be with due to their class division. Bran makes the decision to return to Raasay, but his laird promises his services in the battle to return Mary the Queen of Scots to her throne.

Enya, on the other hand, pays no mind to bloodlines and does not care a bit about the class-division between the Lowlanders from Highlanders. Having seen the way that Bran’s eyes hunger for her has ignited her passions and set her heart aflutter. It is not long before Bran consumes her every thought and desire and he gives into his lust for her. The two begin an illicit romance that will soon be tested with the trials of war and the peril of deception.
