The “Animal Ark Holiday Treasury” series written by different authors is meant for children ages eight years old on up. The books are to help young readers build their reading abilities, and they are chapter books. Contributing authors for a given volume are listed and given Special Thanks on the copyright pages of each of the books. The series is part of the “Animal Ark” series that ran from the year 1994 until the year 2008. This part of the series ran from the year 2004 until the year 2008.

It stars Mandy Hope (young girl who aspires to be a vet) and her friend James. Together, the two go on great adventures together and try and help all the animals they can. She is strong willed and high minded, like in all of the books in the series; she has no problems telling people her opinions on how she thinks that animals should be cared for. She does a great job of protecting and helping animals in need. The name “Animal Ark” is also the name of the vet surgery that her parents have in the stories.

Like all of the other books in the larger “Animal Ark” series, this series is supervised by Ben M. Baglio (who also wrote the brief for the series). Ben Baglio is also the name that goes on the books published in America (while Lucy Daniels is the pen name used for the ones published in the United Kingdom). This part of the series started after the books started focusing on the spin offs more.

“Bunny in a Basket” is the first book in the “Animal Ark Holiday Treasury” series and was released in the year 2004. Mandy enjoys helping animals, even when she is outside of her parents’ clinic. She is thrilled that she will be staying with James’ cousin Nadia for an entire week; it helps that Nadia has a beautiful lop eared rabbit that has been named Pixie.

Pixie is going to compete for the opportunity to be the model for a chocolate Easter bunny. Pixie falls ill, and Mandy has to rely on her skills as a veterinarian to figure out what is wrong with the bunny rabbit. Will she be able to cure the bunny before the competition?

Fans of the novel enjoyed the tale due to all of the bunnies that were found in it; you get to join both Mandy and James in the fun they have. Mandy is a great character to read about, and some could not help but root for her and hoped that she would save the day for whichever animal she was trying to help. This is due to how strongly the book was written.

“Kitten in the Candy Corn” is the second book in the “Animal Ark Holiday Treasury” series and was released in the year 2004. Halloween is coming, and Mandy and James cannot wait to start celebrating. Their plans get put on hold as their friend John and his family have gotten candy corn from America. When they start chowing down on the corn, they find that a black Burmese cat that has orange eyes is hiding in the sticky candy.

Fans of the novel found that this was quite funny to read. This was a great book to read, especially if you are a cat lover. Some were first timers reading the book, and they loved it. Once again, yet another fun and humorous book from this great series; these books, some remember were quite popular at their schools’ libraries. A lot of times, it would be hard just to read any of the books, because they were usually always checked out. These books have a lot of charm to them, especially because of the talk of animals.

“Colt on Christmas Eve” is the third book in the “Animal Ark Holiday Treasury” series and was released in the year 2005. Christmas time is coming once again, and Mandy is going to Pip (who is Mandy’s Great-Aunt) to spend the holiday. Pip lives in the New Forest (which is a very old woodland that has a lot of wildlife). The place also has some fascinating local traditions.

Mandy cannot wait, or hide her eagerness, at meeting the wild ponies that walk the land. She makes a friend in the form of a gentle mare and her gorgeous roan colt. It is not long before Mandy’s knowledge as a vet is needed once again. As the Forest can be quite the dangerous place when it is icy and dark. Will Mandy be able to keep the horses from a terrible accident on Christmas Eve?

Fans of the novel enjoyed reading about fellow pet lovers. Some readers cannot get enough of this series, and read them as quickly as they can. Some find that they have to force themselves to read slower, so that they can savor the books that much more. These books are meant for animal lovers, you will feel all of the joys and hurts that Mandy does while reading the books.

“Husky with a Heart” is the fourth book in the “Animal Ark Holiday Treasury” series and was released in the year 2005. Hannah Burgess (a local woman) and her fiance (named Michael) breed and race huskies. They call on Animal Ark because one of their huskies goes into labor. Mandy loves the idea of helping the husky bring six beautiful puppies into the world.

Hannah and Michael have been overwhelmed as they plan their wedding, train their dog team to compete in the biggest race of a lifetime, and care for the newborn puppies. It does not help much when their lead husky gets injured. Will Mandy and James be able to save both the race and the winter wedding that Hannah and Michael were planning?

Fans of the novel found that this is a cute and fun book to read. These books are hard to put down, for some readers. Some enjoyed that Mandy was able to be a little less annoying when interacting with the humans than she can be at times. Whether or not you like the animals in a certain book, you will like any given book.
