B.J. Daniels is a USA Today and New York Times bestselling author from America, particularly of the romance, mystery and thriller genres. Her romance novels have won her prestigious awards and have helped her to become a well known author. Daniels ha written over 25 novels under 5 different novel series’ and a few standalone novels as well. She was born in Houston, Texas, The United States, but has spent most of her growing years in Montana. Daniels says that she was eight years old when she decided that she was going to be a writer. However, the path was not an easy one for her as she had no clue about the life and works of authors, even she had never met a writer in her life before. She was so much low in confidence that it took her many years to gain the courage about confessing to others that her dream job was to become an author. She did not start at once to write novels. After her studies got completed, Daniels began doing some other jobs and had landed a good one after a lot of struggle. But, she left that too at the age of 30 and started working as a writer with the first writing job that she found. She had joined a a part-time reporter for a local newspaper with a little money. Although, the salary was not enough for her, she still continued with the job and acquired all the important skills of writing quickly and completing her jobs on deadline. This gave her courage and boosted her confidence to pursue her career as an author.
At first, Daniels began with writing small and short stories based on the empowerment of the women on Woman’s World. After a few smaller attempts, she wrote her first book. She tried selling it, but had to face a lot of hardships. However, after a few rewrites, she was finally able to sell it to the Harlequin Intrigue. She continued with her job as a part-time reporter along with writing novels at the beginning, and after writing around 4 books, Daniels left her job as a reporter. Since then, she has gone on to sell more than 40 short stories and around 70 novels. She used to write for both the HQN and the Harlequin Intrigue. The novels written by her have frequently featured in the New York Times as well as the USA Today bestselling lists. The contemporary romance novels written by her have won her Romantic Times Career Achievement Award as well as the Reviewers’ Choice Award by the Romantic Times. After becoming a successful writer, Daniels feels blessed that she was able to make her dream come true by becoming an established author. She says that her journey was more beautiful and fruitful than she had imagined. In the path of her journey, Daniels was also able to make wonderful friends in the form of authors, readers and editors. As of today, if she sees one of her books lying on the shelf, she feels thrilled and remembers her hard work that she had put in during her struggling days. Even after becoming a noteworthy author, Daniels likes to attend writing classes in order to sharpen her style of craft. She tries to work even harder today to write novels and hopes that her readers would like them as they have liked her previous books. When not busy with her writing works, Daniels likes to spend some time trying to enjoy the sports activities related to water-skiing, snowboarding, boating, and playing tennis. She also likes to quilt and read her favorite books in her free time. Currently, she lives along with her husband named Parker in Montana. She has two Springer Spaniel dogs and a tomcat named Jeff. The name of her dogs is Jem and Spot. Daniels is a member of the Sisters in Crime, Kiss of Death, Mystery Writers of America, Romance Writers of America and the Thriller Writers associations.
One of the novel series written by B.J. Daniels is the Cardwell Ranch series, which consists of 4 novels published between the years 2004 and 2013. The first novel of the series was titled ‘Crime Scene At Cardwell Ranch’ and was published by the Harlequin Books in the year 2004. The plot of the novel is based on the lives of the characters Hudson ‘Hud’ Savage and Dana Cardwell and the setting of the plot is done in Big Sky and Montana in the United States. In the opening plot of the novel, Hudson Savage is depicted as betraying Dana Cardwell. After the betrayal, she had decided never to look back at him again, although he seemed to be as seductive as ever. Later on, a few skeletons are discovered from the family ranch of Dana Cardwell. As a result, Dana Cardwell is forced to come across her former lover once again. Hudson Savage had arrived there to investigate crimes dating back to decades on Dana’s family ranch. He had left the town and Dana about 5 years ago and has now returned to investigate the older crimes as an acting interim marshall. After meeting Dana once again, he has realized his mistake and is determined not to repeat them again. He has become even more caring about Dana as her life was in danger because of the killer who had committed the decades old crimes and is till walking freely in the canyon. Hudson Savage seems to be determined to save Dana in all the ways possible. He is even determined to risk his own life in order to save Dana from the killer and take advantage of the second chance that life has given him.
The second novel of the series was titled ‘Justice At Cardwell Ranch’ and was published by the Harlequin Books in the year 2012. The novel is based on the life of the characters Hudson Savage, Dana Cardwell, Jordan Cardwell and Liza Turner. The setting of the plot of the novel is done in Montana, United States by the author B.J. Daniels. The plot of the novel opens up with the will of Dana Cardwell’s mother, which was discovered by Dana around six years ago in a cookbook and since then, she has become the sole owner of her family ranch in Big Sky, Montana. Now, she lives a happy married life on her ranch. However, Dana gets surprised when her siblings, Jordan and Stacy arrive at the ranch. Soon, she begins to feel the troubles in her life as her siblings begin to question the will of their mother, which had made Dana the sole owner of the Cardwell ranch. Deputy marshall Liza Turner, who is appointed to investigate the matter comes to know that Jordan Cardwell is not what he seems to be. There is some other link to the story that she is supposed to find out and help Dana Cardwell from getting into troubles.
