The first book written by Bill O’Reilly as an author was titled as ‘Killing Lincoln’. This book was published by Henry Colt & Co., in 2011. Through this novel, Bill has given a riveting narrative of the events surrounding the killing of Abraham Lincoln. In the beginning of the story, he recounts one of the dramatic stories in the history of America. He has described how a gunshot changed the course of the American history forever. During the spring of the year 1865, the saga of the Civil War of America ended after several harrowing battles. President Lincoln’s terms for the surrender of Robert Lee are described as fulfilling the dream of Lincoln to heal a divided country and allow the former Confederates to rejoin the American society. But, this idea of Abraham Lincoln did not please one man and his deadly accomplices, who had connections into the highest positions of the American government.

Later, in the middle of the celebrations in Washington, D.C., a man named John Wilkes Booth, famous for being the charismatic womanizer and a racist, kills Lincoln at the Ford’s Theater. Following the murder of Lincoln, a manhunt begins to catch Booth, who had become the most wanted fugitive of the country. A New York detective named Lafayette Baker unravels the clues that lead to Booth, while other forces help in tracking his accomplices. In the end, a fiery shootout takes place and the execution of first ever woman by the American government occurred and Marry Surratt got killed. The plot of the book featured the most remarkable personalities, thrilling action, vivid details, etc., related to the killing of Abraham Lincoln.

The next novel written by author Bill O’Reilly was released under the title ‘Killing Kennedy’. It was published by Holt & Co., in 2011. This novel recounts the gripping detail related to the murder of John Kennedy. The gunshots that were fired on a Dallas afternoon not just killed a beloved president of America, but also caused the nation to get divided due the Vietnam War and its aftermath. When the Cold War was escalating in January 1961, Kennedy was finding it difficult to control the growth of the communist parties in the country. Due to this, he experienced the hardships, temptations, and solitude of being a United States President. During his tenure as the president, he had made numerous enemies, including the Soviet leader named Nikita Khrushchev, Fidel Castro, Allan Dulles, etc. Along with these dangerous enemies, the powerful elements of the criminal organization in America began making plans about killing the president and his brother named Robert Kennedy, who was the Attorney General. During the campaign of 1963 in Texas, Kennedy gets shot by a drifter named Lee Harvey Oswald. He was a former sharpshooter for the Marine Corps. After escaping from the crime scene, Lee Harvey gets caught later and shot to death in the police custody. The events of the murder of John Kennedy described in the book refreshed the memories of the actual event. The way author Bill has depicted the real events in the novel, it went on to become one of the most talked about books that year.
