The Bridal Bouquet Shop Mysteries are a mystery series written by Beverly Allen, also known as Barbara Early. The series premiered in April 2014 and have been going strong ever since. Set in Virginia, the series stars Audrey Bloom. Bloom is the co-owner of a bouquet shop for brides called The Rose in Bloom. It is there that Audrey crafts her beautiful flower arrangements for brides as they walk down the aisle. Set in a small town and with the quick witted Audrey at the helm of the flower shop, drama seems to find them as a groom turns up dead in the very first book, prompting Audrey to try and figure out the mystery of why. Allen is also the author of Gold, Frankincense, and Murder, a novella.

Readers will definitely enjoy the spunky and smart character of Audrey Bloom! Audrey is good at what she does, and an independent woman who keeps her business not only open, but thriving. Making bouquets for brides is her specialty, and she does it so well that The Rose In Bloom is always enjoying constant business. Audrey happily runs their florist shop in Ramble Virginia with her cousin, Olivia Rose (Liv). They’re both fun and like to work hard, so they always have plenty of business. Audrey is also very good at what she does– she knows the names and the meanings of all the flowers that she uses in her bouquets! Readers will enjoy Audrey as a character!

Bloom and Doom

Bloom and Doom is the first book in the Bridal Bouquet Shop Mystery series. Audrey works day in and day out creating floral arrangements in the form of bouquets for brides about to walk down the aisle. She likes to create bouquets that are attractive and catch the eye– and many of them are based around the Victorian meanings that the flowers hold. Audrey loves being a part of the celebrations, and creating floral bouquets is what she does best. As a matter of fact, all of the couples that she has created floral arrangements for are still together! Whether this is because of their commitment to each other or because of Audrey’s work remains to be seen. Regardless, they are all still happily married.

So you might say that Audrey has a perfect record. However, that record of perfect marriages is about to be broken. Why is that? Because the groom of one of the weddings that Audrey is creating flowers for just turned up dead. Unfortunately, the groom is also the future husband of her childhood friend, Jenny Whitney. Jenny hired Audrey to design her flowers. Audrey doesn’t necessarily agree with Jenny marrying town heart throb Derek, but she holds her tongue as it’s Jenny’s life, not hers.
Although Audrey didn’t think that the combination of pussy willow, anemone, and scabious was exactly the most harmonious bouquet, she agreed to create the bouquet that Jenny wanted. What’s even worse with the groom’s death? Bits of a bouquet have been sprinkled over his dead body. On top of a tragedy, it’s not exactly good for her business.

Unfortunately, Jenny has also become the leading suspect in the case. Like her life wasn’t already turned upside down enough! It’s up to Audrey to figure out who has murdered the love of her friend’s life to free her friend from incrimination, hopefully not coming under the cross hairs of the murderer as well. It doesn’t look good for Audrey, either, since the bouquet that was found on him came from her shop. Audrey quickly transitions from shopkeeper to Sherlock and starts looking for clues as to who married Derek. In the meantime, she must design bouquets for weddings and also struggle with her feelings for the cute cupcake baler. Nick Maxwell. Will Audrey find the murderer? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

For Whom The Bluebell Tolls

The second book in the Bridal Bouquet Shop series find Audrey doing great. Her bouquets have been selected to be on a reality show about weddings, ensuring that the Rose in Bloom shop will get continuous business for sometime. The show, Fix My Wedding, is going to be filmed around a bride (Suzy Weber) who is absolutely obsessed with bells. That’s perfect for Audrey, and so she puts together a stunning bouquet of calla lilies, Campanella, and Bells of Ireland.

Everything is running smoothly, until her ex boyfriend Brad turns up. He’s apparently a crew member for the reality show. This only spells trouble for her relationship with Nick. Things go from bad to worse when another person turns up dead. This time it’s one of the show hosts. He’s discovered dead hanging in a church bell tower while up there to check the bells, and worse still, it appears that Brad is the one who did it.

Audrey must now find out who the killer is, using her intuition and limited information to go on. Otherwise, the show stands a good chance of never making it to the air. Not only is Gary the host dead, but things begin to go wrong on the show. The dress and the flowers are tampered with, and things are just generally going wrong. Is it a vendetta against the host, or does someone want to stop the wedding from happening?

Audrey isn’t alone– she has help from family and friends. Meanwhile, Audrey’s putting a sharp eye to the cast and everyone connected with the show to see who has the motive in order to stop this wedding from happening– wanting it so bad that they’re willing to kill. The staff works overtime to make the episode happen and keep the wedding going. Meanwhile, Brad wants to get Audrey back– making her interest in Nick a bit of a love triangle. Not only that, the bride is being a bridezilla, and Audrey’s desire to purchase a cottage once owned by her grandmother.

For Whom the Bluebell Tolls is a riveting mystery book that will have you on the edge of your seat! The drama never stops– but will the killer be prevented from striking again? Will the hosts’ pasts come back to haunt them? Read the second installation of the Bridal Bouquet Shop mysteries and find out!
