C.L. Bevill is a noteworthy American author who likes to write her novels in a variety of genres and sub-genres such as paranormal, romance, fantasy, mystery, thriller and many others. Before becoming a successful author, Bevill used to work for the U.S. Army. She has also worked as a therapist, graphic illustrator and has also had to clean the floors to earn her living. She used to be a stay-at-home mom before setting out and trying her hand at whatever work she got. Bevill had not made up her mind about a particular work or profession. Hence, she tried out all sorts of work in order to find out the field of her interest. Finally, she became aware of her hidden talent as a novelist and it took her no time to give up all other works and become a full time author. Currently, she lives along with her husband and daughter in her house in Alabama. Bevill started her writing career in the year 2002 when she published her first novel Bayou Moon. But, she did not get success in her first attempt and had to wait till 2010, when her second novel got published. However, from then on she has been working non-stop and makes sure that she completes several books each year so that she could write other books as well.
Bevill does not have any other hobby except for writing novels and hence, she likes to keep herself involved in work all the time. Her hard work and determination has helped her to overcome all the odds in her life and come out as a winner. She went on to complete a total of 5 novel series’, all of which consist of multiple books. Many of her books have become widely popular, which have helped her to make a name for herself in the world of writing. Her unique style of writing and deep observation have allowed her to be counted among a few notable authors. Apart from Alabama, Bevill has lived in a number of places such as Arizona, Virginia, Oregon and Texas. She completed her graduation in the subjects of social psychology and counselling and holds her masters degree in the same. Bevill’s husband Woody also helps her in completing her novels by providing her with important suggestions about the characters and the plots as well as gives genuine reviews about her completed works. Bevill enjoys doing rollerblading in her free time. She also likes to spend some time with her Siamese cats. The cats are very close to her and she always nurtures them and takes a good care of them. She a many Siamese cats in her house.
One of the successful novel series’ written by C.L. Bevill is the ‘Lake People’ series, which consists of a total of 3 novels published between the years 2010 and 2012. The first novel of the series was titled ‘Veiled Eyes’. It was published as a Kindle edition in the year 2010. The plot of the novel is set in Louisiana, United States and revolves around the life of the main character named Anna St. Thais. In the opening sequence of the novel, Anna St. Thais is introduced waking up from a vivid and haunting dream. She saw giant cypress trees with Spanish moss alongside a dark and black lake resembling a Louisiana bayou. In her dream, Anna St. Thais also saw a man, who seemed to know her very well, as well as a group of few other men who had strange but telepathic powers, known as the veiled eyes. Anna ST. Thais has been described by the author as an orphan living in Texas, who is going on a journey towards the east in order to help one of her friends. However, she encounters a couple of weird and terrifying things during the course of her journey. She begins to see haunting things and listens psychically to the words of an unknown man, who seems to have a lot of knowledge about Anna St. Thais than she would have ever imagined. She also gets kidnapped by a trucker who seemed to be a sociopath and had the intention of making her a victim of his cruelty. However, she gets saved by Gabriel Bergeron, who is a member of the Lake People group from Northwestern Louisiana.
Anna St. Thais does not realize the fact that Gabriel is the psychic counterpart of herself, who had been coming in her dreams and pulling her inexplicably to the area. Anna St. Thais shares the distinctive mental powers and the weird gold colored eyes of the Lake People. The members of the Lake People are aware of the fact that Anna St. Thais is also a part of them, who had been isolated from them due to unknown circumstances. The Lake People are a reclusive lot and being one of them, Anna St. Thais was eventually getting pulled into their strange world. In the new world of the Lake People, Anna St. Thais gets attracted towards Gabriel and begins to develop a romantic link with him. However, she is tensed over the dilemma of whom to trust and whom to not. Anna St. Thais’ return is not favorable for some members of the group as it has disturbed their inner workings. They also feel the threat of getting their long concealed secrets exposed. The secrets related to Anna St. Thais’ past and the reason behind her disappearance from Lake People as an infant. There is also a danger to her life until she gets the answers that she desperately strives to find.
The second novel of the series was published in the year 2010 under the title ‘Disembodied Bones’. The plot of this novel revolves around the life of the protagonist Leonie Simoneaud, who is one of the Acadian descendants, the Lake People in Louisiana and has some odd psychic powers.She had rescued an outsider named Douglas Trent at the age of 13 from a pedophile and maniac named Monroe Whitechapel.As a result, Leonie was shunned by the Lake People as she had exposed them to the external world. Now, she has grown into an adult an owns an antique shop in Buffalo Creek, a town in Texas. Leonie is unaware of the fact that a madman is on the hunt for her because of rescuing Douglas as a teenager. Due to this, her psychic powers get exposed while trying to protect herself and her friends in Buffalo Creek. Soon, a child gets kidnapped and Leonie receives a riddle filled backpack. Leonie and Douglas very well know that Monroe Whitechapel used to make use of riddles to taunt the victims, but he was killed by Leonie at the time of saving Douglas. It seemed that Leonie will have to go through her former enemy once again and this time she needed to put a lot more determination in order to finish him completely. The psychotic man whom she had killed 20 years before had come back in her life once again, this in the real world. Leonie is all geared up to face him for the one last time.
