Adeline Catherine Anderson is a famous American award winning writer who has specialized in writing historical and contemporary romantic novels. She has been a long time author since 1988. She has great writing experience which has earned her books massive recognition and are best-selling masterpieces around the world and her native United States. She was born on the 22nd on December 1948 in Oregon, USA. She is the daughter of Benjamin Early la May. It seems that writing runs in her family as her mother was similarly a writer. She drew inspiration from her mother and she, herself began writing at a young age. But she did not put her stories up for publishing thinking perhaps that it was too ambitious. When she enrolled for college, she pursued accounting. She did so that she could help her beloved husband keep the books at his company. During her college she realized that accounting was not her desire and she opted to drop out of college and get back to writing. She lives in Oregon with her husband, Sidney Anderson and their two children.

After getting both of her feet into the writing career, her first four books were romantic novels. They were published under the Harlequin Intrigue romantic suspense line. After that she has authored romance books which swing between contemporary and historical. She has cut a niche for herself and is known to write books which feature a character who is a person living with disability. The disabilities range from physical to mental and in all cases the characters that are afflicted overcome those disabilities. The running theme of her books involves characters who are complex in character and are primed to overcome substantial odds in their lives. This has won her admiration and has made her books inspirational. Another recurring feature about her books is that they are set near animal ranches, so as you are imbibing her works, you are bound to stumble into an animal as part of the setting. This could be motivated by the fact that she lives in a mountain ridge which has plenty of lifestyle. The surroundings of their home make part of what she describes as a writer’s dream. Her first published was ‘In the Mother Tongue’ while her latest book was released in February of last year, ‘Walking on Air’.

She has garnered recognition for her works. Her works were described by the Romantic Time Magazine as moving and heartwarming. This is a testament to the ideals that her books are founded on, perfect love emerging out of difficult circumstances in an imperfect world. Proof that her works are not just for readership but valuable life lessons and real life experiences can come out of the fictive romantic novels that she writes. Reader went ahead and poured effusive praise on her novels acclaiming that they were of classic proportions. They went ahead to describe her novels as heart wrenching, delightful and beautiful, no doubt given the odds that the characters have to go against and the beauty that emerges at the end of their struggles. Publishers Weekly acclaimed that she was a major voice in the romantic genre. Two of her novels have made it to the Top 10 New York best sellers list. The romantic novels, ‘Morning Light’ and ‘Sun Kissed’ made it to the top 5 of the Best Seller list. In May 2008, ‘Comanche Moon’ another of her books was placed on the New York best seller list.

She has had numerous nominations for the quality of her work, she has been nominated nine times by the Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice awards but she has clinched two awards courtesy of her books. She scooped the Romantic Times award for her book ‘Cherish’ and she also has a Career Achievement award.

Apart from the aforementioned books, other popular books she has written include Perfect Timing, Coming up Roses, The True Love Wedding Dress, The Work of Hands and Here to Stay among others.

Some of her earliest and intriguing works include Comanche Moon, a book published in 1991. This paved way for her to publish books in the Comanche series. The other books are Comanche Heart and Comanche Magic. The books have drawn superlatives for the intensity that the characters had and the exciting storylines and of course the seemingly insurmountable odds that are overcome.

In Comanche Moon, the main characters are Loretta Simpson and The Hunter of the Wolf. The story is about Loretta Simpson a woman who lives in perpetual fear after Comanches killed her parents and she lives in the fear that the warriors will return. She sees the Hunter of the Wolf as her sworn enemy but Hunter believes that she is a woman from the ancient prophecy whom she must honor. Loretta cannot see past the fact that Hunter’s people kidnapped her. The enmity between Loretta’s and Hunter’s peoples turns their hatred for each other into respect over a period of time. In the wake of the surrounding conflict and hatred, the force of love comes through for there to be a safe haven.

Comanche Heart elevates romance to a passionate and powerful level. The book like its Comanche counterparts is compelling, with one particular review calling it highly sensual. The main female character, Amy, has pledged her love for a Comanche warrior who was a murderous gunslinger, Swift Antelope, was his name and his name rang in the West. In a case of promised love and a yearning romance, he has to make Amy Masters believe in his love and long for him.

Finally in the Comanche series, was the Comanche Magic whose reissue came out in 2011, it followed a similar direction to the others with heavy animal connotations. As one of the characters is called Chase Wolf, who is a half-Comanche, he is characterised as handsome and someone who gets what they want. He sees Franny a lady with a beautiful smile, delicate features radiant with angelic beauty and given his attitude, he vows to make her his. The only catch is that Franny is not as she seems and the truth about her may be difficult for Chase to deal with.

Catherine Anderson is an accomplished writer who captures the imagination of her readers and has taken romantic fiction to a whole new level.

I have read all of her books. Has she anything new or will she have anything new coming to print?

I love to read book series that keep all of the characters in each of the books. But Catherine also adds humor to her books. To me, that’s what makes it a good book.

Just read my first Catherine Anderson novel: Simply Love. The characters are great. Was reading by myself and laughing out loud at some points and tears in my eyes at others. Will definitely be reading a lot more of them. Couldn’t put the book down until it was finished.

Doesn’t really matter. I believe for most of them you can read out of publication order too because Catherine writes them generally as standalone. In saying that always best to try to stick to publication order. There can always be little callbacks etc plus good to see the author grow as they write.

I have the entire Mystic Creeks series, the entire Kendrick/Coulter series, all four of the Keegan/Paxton series and Only by Your Touch (the first book I bought), all in paperback. I have read all at least three times and will continue to read them. I am currently re-reading the Mystic Creek series. Absolutely wonderful reading.

I recently read Annie’s Song, Coming up Roses and Cheyenne Amber by purchasing a Kindle edition. Keegan’s Lady is also available on Kindle and Strawberry Hill is available as a paperback and there may also be a Kindle edition.
