Christine Kling is a prominent author from America, who likes to write thriller and mystery novels. She is particularly famous for writing the Sychelle Sullivan mystery books. Other than this popular novel series, author Kling also writes another mystery book series and a collection of short stories. In addition to writing mystery novels, she likes to travel to different places, and her favorite mode of transport is sailing. Throughout her life she has sailed to numerous places. Kling also enjoys reading books and engaging in adventurous activities. Author Kling was born in Missoula, Montana, United States. She spent most of her initial years growing up in Southern California. Kling has also lived in places like Mexico, France, etc. She has finally gone on to settle in Florida. Author Kling began her writing career in 2002 with the release of her debut book called Surface Tension. This book marked the beginning of her Seychelle Sullivan novel series. Kling says that she spent more than 30 years living in the surrounding of boats. Her main involvement was in cruising in the Pacific and Caribbean. Kling proudly mentions herself as a boat wife and mother. Today, she owns her own boat and navigates it to various tourist places. Many of the stories and articles written by her have featured a wide range of publications such as Cruising World Sailing!, Gulfstream Magazine, Miami Noir, The Tiller & the Pen, etc. The first 4 books penned by her describe the story of a female captain of a tugboat named Seychelle Sullivan hailing from Florida. As Kling is involved in the technical field, she feels intrigued by the quick changes that have occurred in the industry of book publications. With her years of contribution in the field of writing, now author Kling is trying to establish herself in self publishing also. Kling has self published a collection of 4 short stories called Sea Bitch, and an international thriller novel known as Circle of Bones that takes place in Caribbean.

The Thomas and Mercer publisher have offered author Kling a contract of 3 books for re-issuing the book and penning a couple of its sequels. Prior to the beginning of her writing career, author Kling used to teach English at the Broward Community College. However, she retired from this job a few years ago and now focuses fully on her writing career. Author Kling was married to a man named Jim Kling, but is now divorced. She and her husband used to sail in the waters of Pacific on board her 52 feet long motorsailor. The husband & wife pair was always accompanied by their son and their boat dogs named Barney and Ruby. The former is a Yorkshire Terror, while the latter is a Wonder Dog. Kling obtained her MFA degree in Creative Writing in 1993 from the Florida International University. Following this, she joined Jim on a two year continuous sailing in and around the Caribbean waters. During this whole time, Kling’s son named Tim was home schooled by her. In the same voyage, author Kling got the idea of her first novel and started writing it. When the family returned from the voyage, Kling started working towards completing the book. It took her 2 years before the book was finally finished and published through a literary agent. At around the same time, she parted ways with her husband and has been living as a single mother since then. The money that she earned her from the first book’s release was used for the payment of college tuition of her son. Nowadays, she is busy in the development of her latest mystery novel, which she is expected to publish soon.

The Seychelle Sullivan series written by Christine Kling is comprised of 4 books in total, which were released between the years 2002 and 2007. The books feature Seychelle Sullivan in the role of the chief protagonist, who works as a Florida salvage and tug captain. Author Kling has described that Sullivan has to work two times more than her male counterparts. so as to compete and survive. The debut book of this series is entitled ‘Surface Tension’. It was released by the Tell Tale Press in the year 2002. At the start of the book, it is shown that Seychelle Sullivan had the chance to save the life of a person some years back. That night, she was feeling the pain of her own teenage loneliness and resentment, and therefore, she couldn’t save the person’s life. But today, Sullivan captains the boat of her father in New River of Fort Lauderdale. All these years, she has not been able to escape the thought that she could have made a difference by saving the man’s life. Later, one steamy morning, Sullivan receives a call for help from a yacht. As she is in a race to outperform her competitors for gaining the salvage rights, Sullivan takes a personal interest in the rescue operation. Sullivan learns that the skipper of the yacht is her ex-lover named Neal Garrett. When she reaches the yacht, Sullivan sees an altogether different scene on board. She finds that a woman has been killed on the yacht and the Neal is not found anywhere. The police think of Sullivan as murder’s prime suspect. In order to clear her name, she begins to investigate and tracks down the real killer. She also finds out what happened to Neal Garrett. Meanwhile, she also manages to save her life from the deadly killer.

The second novel of this series is called ‘Cross Current’. It was published in 2004 by the Tell-Tale Press. At the beginning of this book, it is depicted that Seychelle Sullivan continues to earn her living by working towards saving the lives of people in New River on her tug. Her life takes a shocking turn when she receives a signal from a fishing boat in Gulf Stream. When Sullivan arrives on board the boat, she discovers that a woman has been murdered and a small girl dressed in white was lying besides her. Sullivan takes the traumatized girl to the shore along with her. The girl named Solange seems to know who killed the woman. Sullivan vows to protect her at all costs. She is not willing to let the girl go to her relatives to Haiti as she feels that the killer, who left her terrorized, might try to attack her again. With the intention of finding the murderer, Sullivan begins to explore the Haitian community in Florida. Sullivan’s investigation helps her discover that the killer has already claimed several lives and that Solange’s life is still in a great danger. She races to unravel the dangerous truth and catch the murderer.
