This series of paranormal romance novels from Sherrilyn Kenyon has proven to be popular with its young adult audience, in a saga that has spanned across multiple books now. In it we see Greek goddess Artemis and her group of immortal warriors, The Dark-Hunters, vowing to protect humanity from a variety of evil forces that seek to destroy it. This includes Daimons, or vampires, along with other gods and goddesses gone bad. Dark-Hunters are created through an act of vengeance as they seek to destroy those who wronged them during their lifetime, a pact created by Artemis who hears they soul scream once betrayed. Each with their own powers and abilities, they hunt down their Daimon targets in an ongoing war that continues over the course of the series. Dark-Hunter: Night Pleasures

Although this isn’t the initial story in the Dark-Hunter franchise, it is the first full novel that Sherrilyn Kenyon offers her readers into this ever-enticing universe. With humor and drama both balanced out in good measure, we’re introduced to Kyrian of Thrace; a formidable and intimidating Dark-Hunter. Typically a loner enveloped in darkness, he finds himself bound to Amanda Devereaux; an accountant. As she’s being hunted by one of the most dangerous vampires there is, it’s up to him to protect her. Initially finding himself in-between a rock and a hard place, the reluctant hero forms a bond with Amanda as the novel progresses. All this whilst fighting to save humanity from the brink of obliteration.

Combining fantasy and romance, this novel takes a look at unlikely relationship occurring amidst all the chaos and turmoil. With Kyrian living an exciting lifestyle, with danger lurking around every corner he has everything he’s ever wanted at his fingertips. Wealth, immortality and power have all been at his disposal. That is until Amanda turns up with her conservative approach to life as she turns his whole world upside-down, creating an impact he couldn’t have ever possibly foreseen.

The world of the Dark-Hunter is as dangerous as it is shrouded in mystery. Dark-Hunter: Night Embrace

This book features the tale of Talon, a warrior of an ancient Celtic order that’s been credited with the death of the son of a god named Camulus. Now Talon has been cursed by Camulus, along with anybody that he’s ever cared about during his long lifetime. Everybody that Talon has ever loved is threatened with death by the angry god, who declares that he will slay them all. Fast-forward to present day and Talon is currently in New Orleans where he meets the woman Sunshine. It is with her help that he is to put an end to this curse once and for all.

The city of New Orleans is also under threat from the god, as the entire city is on the brink of feeling his wrath as he decrees that he will destroy it. It is then up to both Talon and Sunshine to prevent this awful tragedy from taking place and saving the day. On top of all this it seems that Talon is falling for Sunshine, a travesty if it was to ever occur. The novel itself takes place during the Mardi Gras, therefore setting the scene for the exciting events and story that is to unfold. Will Talon and Sunshine manage to save the city from obliteration? Can he left the curse freeing him to live a life of normalcy feeling love once more? What will happen to the god and will he finally leave Talon alone once more?
