Dick Moonlight is the protagonist in series thriller/mystery novels written by New York bestselling novelist Vincent Zandri. Apart from novel writing, Zandri is a foreign correspondent and a photojournalist working with Russia Today Television. He resides in Albany in New York, and his work has been translated into several languages including Japanese, Dutch, Russian, and many other languages.

The author Vincent Zandri began scripting down Dick Moonlight series with the debut novel Moonlight Falls making its entry into the market in 2009. The book follows a series of events that leads to the death of Scarlet Montana, the wife of Dick ex-boss. Moonlight thinks that he did kill the young woman but the fact is that he just can’t remember a thing of what had happened.

Moonlight Mafia, the second book in the series, was published in 2010, while the third book Moonlight Rises was released two years later after the first book. Currently, the series is ongoing and consist of over eight novels.

Moonlight Falls
This is the first book in the Shamus award-winning series, Dick Moonlight by the USA today and New York bestselling author Vincent Zandri. In this novel the author begins by asking the readers, “if you knew that you could die any moment from now, to what extent would you go to prove that you killed your lover?” the events depicted in this paranoid thriller are staged in Albany New York.

Unable to perform his duties as the job requires due to the bullets fragments which leave him prone to constant seizures and blackouts, and not to mention serious judgment problems, Moonlights quits his job as an APD. He is later called in by his former partner to work as an outside detective on cases that require private but official stamping to close them. However, the arrangements turn out a problem when he is called to a scene of what appears to be the suicide of Scarlet Montana.

Due to his spotty memory, Moonlight cannot bring himself to what happened despite having blood all over his hands. Thus he believes that he killed his Scarlet Montana- his secret lover and the wife to Jake Montana, Chief of Detectives who was once his ex-boss. However, despite having blood on his hands, he honestly does not believe that he did kill the young lady, but he is determined to finding out what exactly happened to her no matter the consequences that might arise.

What follows over the course of his quest in this high-octane thriller provides non-stop tension ride for the readers; one that includes, grave robbing, a bizarre albino, a fugitive of the law, organ harvesting cartels, and a police conspiracy. The author scripted suspense in this novel in such a way that even the most renowned thriller and mystery readers would be hard pressed to find out in advance what would happen after each scene. Moonlight Falls also delivers swerves and twist right up to the final chapter to ensure readers attention.

Moonlight Mafia
In the debut novel, Moonlight barely made it out alive, after surviving his suicide attempt, and not to mention several death tags on his neck from Russian thugs running an illegal organ harvesting scheme.

Now the former APD lives on with a bullet in his brain, and since it presses hard on the cerebral cortex of his brain, it affects him in matters regarding decision making. In some instances, it causes him to have blackouts/seizures, or cause a short-term memory loss, and at any moment he could die if the bullet lodged on his brain shifts to other parts of the brain.

In Moonlight Mafia the private detective, Moonlight is hired by an unknown client by the name “John Smith” to take down a mafia guy using a used car lot to undertake his illegal gambling activity. However, according to the job description, he is to apply for an advertisement for a salesman position for the same used car lot thus making it possible for him to infiltrate the illegal gambling operation.

However, the problem is, when he head over to the used car lot in response to the ad, he first decides to visit the bar adjacent to the lot to loosen him up. However, when he opens the door of his late father hearse, the door dings the passenger door of a Dodge Ram parked right next to his car. What he does not know is that the now damaged Ram belongs to his would-be-boss who is not only in the mafia but takes the fun with killing and torturing people.

Moonlight Rises
In this fourth installation of Moonlight Rises, the lead character Moonlight returns to chase down a rogue police officer. Moonlight life is in crisis, his girlfriend Lola has left him for another man, his job is slow and most of his evenings are spent with his new friend Jack Daniels. He wakes up in a plane handcuffed next to an FBI agent, thanks to the bullet fragment on his brain; he cannot remember anything at all.

Once the aircraft touches the ground, it becomes clearer to him that things are not well. He soon finds out that he has unfinished business in his last case which got him involved with the Russian mafias in search of Zip drive that contains top government secrets.

Apparently, the cop supposed to deliver the drive to the FBI became rogue and got some followers- Lola, Moonlight girlfriend, and a crooked agent, and he is out there in the black market trying to sell drive to the highest bidder.

Now the FBI wants Moonlight to track down the trio in Florence, Italy and get the drive back to safe hands. However getting the drive is no easy task as he has to outshoot, outrun, and outwit the Russians mobs who have bigger plans for the drive and Moonlight.
