Born in Canada in 1913, Elizabeth was a novel writer and a poet. She grew up in an affluent and renowned family. In fact, her father was a lawyer who regularly mixed with prominent people. Hence, the writer was refused an entry visa. This made Elizabeth to go back to the US again. Smart became pregnant again for the second child. At this time, she moved to England and worked in the ministry of defense whereby she was close to barker.
