Fran Stewart is one of the popular authors from the United States, who is fond of writing her books based on the literature & fiction, thriller, and mystery genres. She is famous for writing the Scotshop mystery series and the Biscuit McKee mystery series. Author Stewart says that she was more of a slow learner while growing up. For many years, she kept on ignoring her dream of writing novels based non murder mysteries. At one point of time in her life, she realized that ignoring her dream can not only get her nowhere in life, but it can also cause trouble with the body as well as with her entire being. Therefore, she thought of wasting no more time and started writing once this thought came into her mind. The more author Stewart continued to write mystery books, the more she enjoyed the experience. Also, she felt as if she was healing. Eventually, she went on to write her first novel featuring the story of a middle aged librarian, Biscuit McKee, and Marmalade, the white and orange library cat. Later, it came to be called as Orange As Marmalade. However, the characters of this intriguing story did not let author Stewart stop at just one book. Subsequently, she went on to write a total of 7 books in the series, each having a different color name in its title. Author Stewart is not yet finished with the series as she is working on the plot of the next novel in the series.

In addition to this interesting murder mystery series, author Stewart also writes the Scotshop Mysteries. This series is based on the life of a modern day Vermont shopkeeper and a Scottish ghost from the 14th century that lives along with her. So far, author Stewart has written only three books in this series, which have also been published. However, she is expected to come up with a few more books in this series in the coming months. Author Stewart believes that all her novels are traditional mysteries and are filled with plenty of intriguing characters, humorous sequences, and new puzzles that are liked by every reader. Author Stewart says that she is a firm advocate and supporter of the gentle and understanding treatment of the animals. Very often, she donates a part of her income from book sales to the Gorilla Foundation and the Humane Society. As a well published author, Stewart is associated with the American Pen Women National League, the Sisters in Crime, the Writers Club of Atlanta, and the MWA. During one point in her career, author Stewart used to be a beekeeper and also used to blog daily. She used to write daily for 600 days in her blogs about whatever she learned from her bees. When author Stewart was in her 20s, she was told by an astrologer that the Capricorn women do not gain popularity and power until they reach their mid-fifties. This made her feel that she would be dead very soon. But, the astrologer’s words came true as author Stewart gained popularity by the publication of her debut novel titled Orange as Marmalade at the age of 55.

The Scotshop Mystery series written by author Fran Stewart consists of a total of 3 books till now. Among them, two have already been published between the years 2015 and 2016. The third book is also expected to be published very soon. Author Stewart published the debut book of this series under the title of ‘A Wee Murder in My Shop’. This book, whose plot is set in Pennsylvania, United States, was released by the publishers at Berkley. In the opening sequence of the book, author Stewart has shown that Peggy Winn is on a transatlantic hunt to sell some authentic wares at her Scotshop. She tries to forget all her troubles by trying to dig through the precious treasures from the Scottish Highlands. As she puts up a number of enchanting items for sale, her business begins to boom. As a result, Peggy could not resist buying a beautiful old pattern tartan shawl. However, as soon as Peggy wraps the shawl around her body, she finds that it has come with a hidden ghost of a 14th century Scottish man. Initially, Peggy seems pretty unsure whether the ghostly incident was real or whether it was because of her overactive imagination. So she returns back to her home in Vermont. As she enters into her shop, she discovers her ex-boyfriend’s dead body lying on the floor. Later, the police find some important evidences and arrest the cousin of Peggy for the murder. Peggy thinks of getting the help from her Scottish ghost in order to figure out who the real killer is, so that she could prevent someone else from getting killed.

The next book in the series is titled as ‘A Wee Dose of Death’. This book was released in the year 2016. Author Stewart once again depicted Peggy Winn in the lead role in the plot of this book. When the story begins, author Stewart has shown that the business at Peggy Winn’s Scotshop located in Hamelin, Vermont, continues to boom. But, because of the presence of the 14th century, hot tempered Scottish ghost, Peggy Winn is not able to enjoy the toast of her good business fortune. But, it does seem an easy thing for the Scottish ghost named Dirk to be thrust into the unknown modern world. However, Peggy does not realize this fact and always tries to put him in line. Soon, everyone is taken aback when the police chief discovers the dead body of the college professor of one of Peggy’s friends named Karaline. The dead body is found in a cabin located on a deserted mountain. The investigation shows that the secretive professor might have been killed because of the ecological works in which he was involved. This idea becomes more concrete when Karaline also gets shot by someone. As the case becomes too complicated for the police to solve, Dirk and Peggy Winn decide to keep their differences aside and join hands to find the brutal killer. They begin their hunt to unravel the truth and put the killer behind the bars. The book was well appreciated by the critics and the readers and author Stewart was also praised for her dedicated efforts. This helped the book to become very much successful all across the globe. The success helped author Stewart to add more colors to her already successful writing career.
