The first novel of the series was published under the title ‘How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire’. It was published by the Avon publishing house in the year 2005. The plot of the novel is set in New York City, New York, United States during the time of the year 2005. It features the main characters in the form of Shanna Whelan and Roman Draganesti. The plot of the novel opens up with the tag line ‘Nobody said love was perfect…’ and introduces the primary characters. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, Roman Draganesti is described as a handsome, charming and rich person, but he is also a vampire. He has just lost one of his fangs because of sinking his teeth into something that he should not have done. After losing one of his teeth, he has the time of only one night for finding a dentist before the wound gets closed by his natural healing powers. If such a thing happens, then he will be left as a lopsided eater for the rest of his eternity. On the other hand, Shanna Whelan is introduced as a troubled woman, for whom things are not going well, too. She has witnessed a gruesome murder by a fierce mob and finds herself as the next one on their list. Shanna works as a professional dentist, but her career seems to be going on a downward spiral as she is very much afraid of seeing blood. After a while, she gets rescued by Roman Draganesti from an assassination attempt by the mob, after which Shanna begins to believe that she has found the man can keep her alive by fighting for her. Seeing mutual interest in each other, they begin to fall for their hot and immediate attraction towards one another. However, it is to be seen whether Shanna will be able to conquer her fear of blood and go on to fix Roman’s lost fang. The second novel of the Love at Stake series written by author Sparks was published by the Avon publishing house under the title ‘Vamps and the City’. It was published in the year 2006 and featured the main characters in the form of Austin Erickson and Darcy Newhart. The plot of the novel is set in New York City, New York, United States, just like the first novel of the series. The opening tag line of the novel reads ‘Who says a vamp can’t have it all?’. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, Darcy Newhart is introduced as the director of a TV reality show in which the mortals and vampire fight for gaining the title of ‘The Sexiest Man on Earth’. The show was the first of its kind and Darcy thinks of it as a stroke of genius. She hopes that her career as the director of the show will return back on track after the telecast of the first of its kind TV reality show. She also hopes of finally having a life other than the vampire harem. This means that she is still dead, but nearly alive. Darcy is required to make sure that the title of the show is not won by a mortal. However, she seems to be distracted by a super hot and sexy mortal contestant named Austin Erickson. Darcy keeps getting closer to Austin, but is unaware of the worst part of it that actually Austin is a vampire slayer. He has got his eyes on the blonde and leggy director of the show, Darcy Newhart, and seems to be pretty much determined in his approach. However, the only problem that Austin faces is that he had never wanted to get close to a woman, dead or alive, as badly as he wants to get close to Darcy. But, if Austin tries to win her heart, he is going to lose his soul. He does not actually care about it if it means that he is going to get an eternity of passionate and hot love with Darcy.
