Krista considers herself lucky to have become an author as she was headed towards a different career path. She lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains, from where she keeps writing her mystery novels. Before that, Krista used to live in Northern Virginia and spent many years over there. She has even resided in for a little while in Old Town Alexandria, where she completed her first novel series. Apart from writing, Krista Davis also likes to bake and cook, and enjoy eating her handmade dishes. Her liking for different food items can be seen in her novels, where she has mentioned a number of recipes in most of the plots of the novels. Krista is known to describe animal characters in her novels efficiently. Most of her novels depict some or the other domestic animals, mostly cats and dogs. She has a couple of cats and 3 dogs which have inspired her to develop the mystery plots of her novels. Krista has efficiently trained her pets to perform certain useful functions. One of her cats, a gregarious Ocicat named Mochie can easily open cabinets and can leap to great heights.

One of Krista’s dogs is a Golden Retriever, with whom she loves to spend her time and go on long walks. Krista considers her career as an author to be her second job as it allows her to give some time to her primary job as a canine cuisine chef, a door opener and a walking assistant. Krista received a lot of inspiration for writing mystery novels from the works of the famous authors like The Hardy Boys, Agatha Cristie and Nancy Drew. She is known to have created the fictional character of Sophie Winston as the main protagonist of her novel series. Just like the character sketch of Sophie Winston, Krista also likes to entertain family and friends, and tends to leave the job of cleaning for someone else. Her writing career gained prominence after one of her novels got nominated for the Agatha Award. Other novels of her even went on to feature in the New York Times bestseller list for an extended period. Most of the novels written by Krista feature clever mystery with a lot of twists and turns. They contain a strong atmosphere that showcases the smell of wood smoke and dead leaves rattling the streets. The Japanese rights of the first novel series written by Krista Davis have been bought by a company named Tokyo Shogensha. Krista is currently working on her second novel series, which features Trixie, a Jack Russell Terrier as the main protagonist. The series is supposed to be set in a fictional region named the Wagtail mountain in Virginia. It is also supposed to feature dogs and cats along with cooking recipes and entertaining and decorating tips. The novel series ‘Paws and Claws Mystery’ is set in a resort in the charming town of Wagtail Mountain, where people love to spend their vacation along with their cats and dogs. The series consists of three books till now, which were published from 2013 to 2015.

The first novel of the series was titled ‘Murder, She Barked’, which was published by the Berkley publishing house in the year 2013. The plot of the novel features a resort named, The Sugar Maple Inn in the fictional Wagtail Mountain, Virginia. It is considered a premiere vacation spot for the pet owners, who cannot leave their pet animals at home. However, as the story of the novel progresses, the resort turns into murderous place as a killer comes to reside freely in it. The plot of the novel introduces Holly Miller as a life-long caretaker of her dogs. She does not have any employment, her only job is to look after her dogs. Holly owns a loveable and scruffy Jack Russell Terrier, who has the habit of scattering crumbs over the borrowed car of her former boyfriend’s new girlfriend. Just as Holly hopes of things not getting any worse, she receives a disturbing phone call related to her grandmother, which forces her to move back to her family resort in Wagtail Mountain, Virginia. At the resort, Holly and her dog are received by the staff of the resort and a small kitten named Twinkletoes. Soon, things begin to get worse as Holly gets to know about the death of one the employees of her inn in a hit and run accident. Contradictory to the reports, the death does not look accidental at all, which forces Holly to carry out the investigations on her own. She sets out herself on the trail of the murderer along with her pet animals. Holly gets determined to catch the killer before anyone else gets killed by him.

The second novel of the series was published in the year 2014 by the Berkley publishing house. It was titled ‘The Ghost and Mrs. Mewer’. The plot of this novel continues to depict a pet-friendly getaway in Wagtail Mountain, Virginia, United States, which is considered among one of the top getaways. It is getting ready to host the Halloween before a murder takes place, which shakes everyone around. Holly Miller continues to serve as the caretaker of her dogs and cats in this novel too. Her Sugar Maple Inn gets filled with the stories of ghost spirits, who tend to frighten the guests of the inn. However, Holly does not believe in spirits. A TV series named Apparition Apprehenders seems to be developing in the annual Halloween festival of Wagtail based on the investigation of supernatural legends of the town. Soon, things turn ugly, when Trixie and Twinkletoes, Holly Miller’s pets find a dead woman in the bathhouse of the Spring Hotel of Wagtail. The young woman seems to have drowned in the bathhouse of the hotel, as the place is considered to be one of the most haunting places of the town. However, Holly seems to be convinced that the death was not accidental. She gets determined to catch the murderer before he kills anyone else, disguised as a ghost.

I love your Diva series. I live in Northern Virginia and have spent lots of hours walking in Old Town. I have read all of your books at least 3 times. They never get old. I love the relationships with her neighbors, Nina in particular. Keep up the great work!
