It is on January 28, 1964 when Laurie Friedman, a passion-led writer, became a resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas by birth. No one told her of the folly of her dreams, the compromise and long odds as she lived in Pine Bluff. She was the first daughter of a lawyer called Kenneth and a business executive called Annette whom also had two children later. It is in Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and Sorbonne in France where she got to study literature. Laurie established herself as a free lancewriter for countless magazines and newspapers. She got wedded to a real estate developer called David Friedman. She is blessed with two children namely Rebecca and Adam. Among things that fascinate her is reading, being a family person by spending time with her family, walking her dog, dancing, hiking, doing yoga, baking, watching movies and cooking. Currently she resides in Miami, Florida.

Home: Miami, Rosenstone/Wender, 38 E. 29th St., 10th Fl., New York, NY 10016, FL. Agent: Susan Cohen.

Laurie is a Children’s book author. She also worked for Grey Advertising, New York as an advertising account executive, between the years 1986-1989 she worked for Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, Houston She was also an account executive in TX. Between 1990-1992 she was employed by N.W. Ayer Advertising, Houston, account executive and as a speaker at schools.

Realistic fiction books shushed Laurie Friedman to quite a buzz while she was growing up and still does. Her greatest inspiration is identification of herself and of her fans to some of the characters in her works. The ‘writing bug’ bit her while growing up, she always wrote things that happened to her in a journal she kept and also she loves relating some of her characters in her books to her own children via a variety of themes . A fire burns deep in Laurie’s soul and it pushes her to perfection every time she does her work.

The denouement of Laurie’s dream unfolded when she was First-placed in a writing competition children’s division, awarded in 1999 by National Writer’s Association for A Big Bed for Jed, In 2004,a Mallory chapter won her an award, , in 2005, both two Mallory chapters won her an award in International Reading Association/Children’s Book Council Children’s Choice designation and Mallory vs. Max won another designation award in the same year.

“Mallory” chapter books are a series that Laurie is best known. She has the power of emotionally draining young readers and her use of humor is like a vibe of warmth to the series. Among the books is Heart-to-Heart with Mallory ,Back to School,Happy Birthday, Mallory!. Laurie Friedman has shown this in most of her books especially Love, Ruby Valentine which was illustrated by Lynn Avril Cravath, Carolrhoda (Minneapolis, MN), 2006 . In this picture book, a young girl sleeps through her favorite day which is Valentines Day and starts moaning about it. Lovebird, her pet, consoles her by advising her to show affection any other day not just on Valentines Day.

In the Mallory series, Mallory vs Max, the readers meet two siblings: Mallory MacDonald and Max. The two move to another town. Mallory is in a transition period between the friends she had earlier on and new ones she has made and is bound to make. The mom of the two siblings is directing the end of the year play in their new school. This book shows exclusive sibling rivalry as Max and his younger sister compete for attention. The yearn for financial independence finds Mallory a job in which we find in other books under the series that she has a secret admirer who really changes the girls moods by making her happier(HearttoHeart), She decides to take a cruise voyage with her two friends MaryAnn and Joey without the consent of her parents in Mallory On Board. Laurie as an author had the biggest impact at her time. Her books have developed a natural feel of dynamics.

April Sinclair series is another work by Laurie which has sheer gorgeousness and has made an impression on the true meaning of talent.Laurie draws April’s series from some of her own experiences. According to an interview in Mixed up files she stated that when she was thirteen, her attitude was a major problem her parents disliked. Her Parents mixed up her plans of accompanying her friends to a summer camp. They forced young Laurie to go on a family vacation for two weeks. It is from the experience that she got that made this series be born. This was an inspiration that good can come actually from things we dislike.

The series revolves around April Sinclair and her experiences and adventures. April is a girl who has her opinions and different ideologies. She is prone to getting in trouble. April’s family is quite supportive though it is not one of a kind that everyone would wish for. Like all families it has its ups and downs but it is always there for April. This is what Laurie centers mostly in her first book. In her second one, poor April is torn between two boys. Billy is a perfect guy who is sweet, fun-tastic, thoughtful, cute and thoughtful. He is April’s boyfriend until this mysterious boy comes to the neighborhood. He becomes the new next door neighbor that April has. On the arrival of this boy, everything takes a turn. April humiliates Matt in her birthday party by kissing billy. She hopes that the family road trip will help straighten out the feelings she has. From the second up to the fourth books, Laurie explores Aprils feelings about Matt and Billy which in the long run affects the platonic relationship between her and Brynn. This is one breathtaking and adventurous series that will compel you to buy book after book.

As a writer she has gone beyond her work to inspire younger writers by offering them some tips. She gives tips from the rough story line, the plot structure, characters, creative process, chapter length, challenges and how to overcome them when writing and the essentials that one needs in most of her interviews.Laurie Friedman is a role model to the younger writers because of prowess in her line of work and has nuance for English and literature.
