Linda O Johnston is an American author born in 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She believed to be born a writer as she started having interest in writing at a tender age. She saved ideas for the school assignment and attempt to write them later. Her first real attempt was at the age of 8 years where she attempted to write an epic.

She graduated with a degree in journalism with advertising specialty from Pennsylvania state university in 1970.Later she joined Duquesne University school of law where she attained a degree in law. While in the law school she stopped writing fiction due to interference with the law facts.

Linda landed her first job in running a small newspaper and later worked in advertising and public relations. By that time she had many short stories and novels which she had not yet published. Her first publication was a short story mystery that was published by Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine in 1988.

She has taught courses on romance writing at the California university .Linda believes she was born romantic and that is why she writes romantic novels. She has also spoken about romance writing in numerous chapters and conferences to motivate the young writers in embracing the talent of writing romance. And those who love romance writing can learn from her.

Current life

Practicing of law has been her full time job until recently when she quit on legal work and to focus on writing. She lives in Los Angeles and has started writing on full time basis since she quit practicing law. She lives with her husband and two pet dogs and has two adult sons.

Since she started writing full-time, she has created a blog; Killer Hobbies blog where she post blogs about pets, rubber stamping, scrap booking and needlework. This enables her to interact with other writers and fans. She also has one eBook; the glass slipper which can be accessed online.

Linda is a member of Mystery writers of America and Sisters in crime. Being a member enables her to meet other prominent writers and upcoming writers. There are also many conferences that she attends to inspire writers.

Linda’s work as an author

Linda is well known for mystery, paranormal romance and romantic suspense writing with 38 published novels, short stories and series. Her first publication was in 1988 on the mystery short story that was published in Ellery Queen magazine.Love spell was the first novel to be published on time travel romance with a glimpse of forever.

The unique writing skills that Linda possess help her to capture people from diverse age group and gender. The short stories are mostly mystery and about pets which helps capture the attention of the young children. In many of her books she shows great interest in pets as well as she does in real life with the two dogs she take care of as pets.

The most popular of Linda’s books include; sit stay slay, loyal wolf, untamed wolf, Harlequin Nocturne, Teacup Turbulence, Covert attraction and undercover world. In most of her writing she tends to portraythe protagonist in a unique way out of the box. In Bite the biscuit it involves theveterinary who buys a bakery from a friend who is leaving town. She changes half of the bakery into a vet where she sells dog treats and other healthy dogs and since not everyone is happy with her in a town a murder occurs. That is how Linda lead you to her simple and yet complicated mystery. In this novel just like others, her emphasis on the pets safety and healthy keeping at the same time revealing some mystery.

Book series

Besides the short stories and novels, Linda has also written many series one of them being Pet rescue which has 5 books so far. Other series include Lost under the Ladder, Times of your life and Winter Wonderland. Writing on full time basis has helped her in coming up with new series and continuing with the others. Most of her series revolves around mystery of different scenarios in life and some are fiction.

In pet rescue the protagonist, Lauren Van Couver runs a no-kill pet shelter in LA San Fernando Valley where the animals’ life are threatened. Linda brings out the character as a kind-hearted and caring person who will do anything to save the lives of the pet. The no-kill is meant for the pets not people. The series continues where the protagonist has to do many things and fight many obstacles to save the animals and give them in the shelter.

Another series of her master piece is the Lost under the Ladder that is a superstition mystery from the Midnight Ink. Linda uses Rory Chasten as the main protagonist. Rory visits a town,Destiny to learn about Superstitions if they are real. He end up running a pet boutique after dogs saves the shop owner. They get along with the shop owner until that time the owner is accused of murder and Rory has to help the shop owner get clean. Yet in this series Linda does not forget to put across her mystery of finding out why the shop owner is accused and who is framing the owner. It is like Linda does not forget to mention pets in any of her stories making the mystery and romance more anticipating.

Paranormal romance for the Harlequin Nocturne involves a covert military unit of shape shifters and in this novel she has 6 books.

Linda O Johnston has won many award and success despite her not being a full-time writer. Robert L.Fish Memorial Award was her first award in 1988 for the best short story mystery category.
