Maggie Sefton is a well known American author of the suspense and cozy mystery novels. She is particularly famous for writing down the Molly Malone Suspense Mysteries and the Knitting Mysteries. Other than these, she has also written a few standalone novels based on the same genres. Before becoming an author, Maggie graduated from the George Washington University situated in Washington, D.C with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and English Literature. After that, she went on to do a number of jobs in Washington along with working as a real estate agent and as a CPA. Initially, Maggie wrote a few historical fiction novels before going on to write her famous mystery series’. She used the pen name Margaret Conlan for writing the historical fiction novels. Her debut under her original name was published in the year 2005 as the first novel of the Knitting Mystery series. After getting a considerable amount of success with the novels of the series, Maggie got a lot of boost and motivation. This allowed her to begin writing her famous mystery and suspense series, the Molly Malone Suspense Mysteries. Maggie was born in Richmond, VA, and was raised in Northern Virginia in Arlington, located near Washington, D.C. Right after receiving her graduate degree, she got married and started her family in the same city.

Over the years, author Maggie got blessed with four daughters, all of whom have now grown up and established in their respective careers. They are actually scattered in different countries of the world, leaving Maggie with just her husband and the stories of her novels. She always finds herself dreaming in the imaginary world of her primary characters and mysterious and thriller plots. As of today, author Maggie Sefton lives in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado with her husband a couple of demanding jobs. She says that she always knew right her her childhood days that she was going to become a writer. During those days, she used to keep her nose in the books all the time and also loved to write her own imaginary stories. But, as she grew older, her life got busy in other things due to which she could not give enough time for developing her characters and stories. As she had decided to become a CPA after her marriage, it was getting difficult for her to manage her family and attend the Business School of Accounting at the same time. In the middle of her extremely busy life, stories and characters kept coming to her mind, hinting towards a writing career, but she was dedicated towards another career and used to shove away the ideas about writing. Still, she could not get the out of her mind and was forced to not them down on notepads.

Finally, after frequent occurrences of the strong characters and stories, Maggie decided to write. Initially, she started with the historical novels and indulged herself with a secret passion of library research. At the same time, she had to move to Colorado along with her family. Maggie used the opportunity to a good extent and got in touch of several vibrant writers’ groups. She also began attending workshops, seminars, conferences and also joined a few critique groups for learning everything about studying, critiquing, writing, and submitting. And because of her dedicated efforts, she was able to get her first historical novel published by the Berkley publishing house in the year 1995. However, the historical market took a sideways turn and she had to try her hand at writing fiction novels. She got the clue about writing suspense and mystery novels from the mysteries and killings of her historical novels. As she had indulged herself in the real estate business at that time, the first character that she developed under the new mystery series was also an amateur sleuth ad a real estate agent. This way, Maggie had to change her course from historical fiction to mystery novels as per the demand of the publishers and the trend of the market.

The Molly Malone Mystery series written by author Maggie Sefton consists of a total of 3 novels published between the years 2012 and 2014. It features the character of Molly Malone as a widow of a congressman and a senator’s daughter. She works as a consultant for a senator in Washington, D.C. The first novel of the series was published under the title ‘Deadly Politics’. It was published in the year 2012 by the Midnight Ink publishing house. It was considered to be a gripping new mystery and helped author Maggie Sefton to establish herself as a New York Times bestselling author. The plot of the novel is set in Washington, D.C and introduces the character of Molly Malone as the main protagonist. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, Molly Malone is depicted as getting driven from Washington, D.C., due to political back-stabbing, personal heartbreak, and a few scandals. The situation forces her to move to a place where she had promised herself not to go. She hoped of starting a new life over there. When the only job prospect of Molly in Washington falls through, her niece Karen sets her up with the position of a consultant in the office of a senator, with the help of her political background. As Molly Malone is the former wife of a congressman, she gets alarmed about hearing the news that Karen is having an affair with the congressional chief of staff and her boss, Jed Molinoff. After a few days of the affair, Karen is found dead by Molly due to a gunshot. Later, she discovers that Molinoff has ransacked the apartment of Karen and begins to investigate further to find the reason for Karen was shot dead and the person who shot her.

Molly Malone seems to have a firm belief that her boss Jed Moniloff has some role in the murder of Karen. Soon, she finds herself trailed by a shadowy political group, which is known to kill anyone who tries to get in their way. The novel proved to be a marvelous description of author Maggie Sefton’s foray into the political intrigue. She has given an excellent account of the shady underbelly of the insider situation of Washington. The novel also proved to be a tightly plotted tale of backstabbing, treachery, and scandals. The second novel of the series was published in the year 2013 by the Midnight Ink publishing house. It was titled ‘Poisoned Politics’ and continued to feature Molly Malone as the primary character. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, Samantha Calhoun, one of the friends of Molly Malone, is depicted as teaching her young and often married students. But, she herself comes to Molly Malone for her help when the photos of her and U.S. Rep. Quentin Wilson, her latest fling, begins to make the rounds in the city. Before Samantha and Molly begin to investigate to know who sent the photos, Quentin is found dead in the living room of Samantha Calhoun. It appeared as if he had committed suicide. In the middle of this, the political shadowy group which killed Molly’s niece Karen, is trying to craft an insidious plan. The group seems to stop at nothing in their quest to rise to power, even if it means killing someone.
