Mary Ellis is one of the most noteworthy authors of America, who has written some of the very successful books in her writing career. One of the most successful novel series written by author Mary Ellis is titled as ‘Wayne County’. This series consists of just two books which were published in the year 2011. The first book was titled as ‘Abigail’s New Hope’ and was released by the Harvest House publication in the year 2011. The plot shows Abigail Graber is the main lead, who works as a midwife in the Amish county. She loves to bring the babies into their beautiful world. But one of the deliveries goes wrong and Abigail is forced to deal with some hard choices. With her best efforts, she saves the child, but the mother dies. The case goes into the hands of a heartless judge who rules Abigail to serve a term in the county jail for making the mistakes during the delivery. Before going to prison, she asks her sister Catherine to take care of her children, while her husband Daniel works on the farms. Catherine meets the reclusive cousin of Daniel named Isaiah in his house, who was deaf. The whole Amish community thought Isaiah to be a simple person. But, Catherine discovers that he has an unexpected gift, while trying to teach him how to communicate. During the time of her stay in the Amish community, Catherine takes care of all the needy people and in return, she gets the much required love. On the other hand, Isaiah finds the existence of God with the support of Catherine and other people of the Amish community. Overall, the book appears to be a story of maintaining faith, overcoming grief, and finding hope in the most difficult situations.

The second book in the Wayne County series written by author Mary Ellis was published under the title ‘A Marriage for Meghan’. This book is set in Shreve, Ohio, United States, and revolves around the central character named Meghan, residing in the Amish county. At the beginning of the book, Meghan is depicted as a 19 year old, bright, eager, and dedicated girl. She wants to prove her bishop father that she is ready to teach in the district of the Old Order. But, just as she begins to gain assurance and confidence, Meghan faces challenges to her authority and patience from a troubled student and a male suitor respectively. Soon, it appears that a series of crimes threaten the Amish county, causing love and life tensions to Meghan. She begins to get attracted towards the handsome agent from the FBI, called as Thomas Mast. He is sent to the Amish community in order to investigate the string of crimes that have taken place recently. As Meghan begins to feel that she is the cause of the disturbance of the serene county, Thomas Mast tries to make her believe that it is not true. With the passage of time, both of them begin to feel the true love for each other behind their mixed feelings. In the end, the novel proved to be a timeless description of personal quests for love, hope, and faith.
