She decides to walk around the morgue but the idea fails to improve her mood. She discovers she cannot kill herself, so she gets downright aggressive. She is proclaimed to be the Queen of the Vampires by the hateful Eric Sinclair; who chairs himself first in line to be her companion but later on proves to be the last straw.

The first two books in the series

Undead and Unwed

This is the first paranormal romance novel written by MaryJanice Davidson. Basically, this is the first adventure of Elizabeth Betsy Taylor in the series after she was transformed into a vampire. In this novel, Betsy Taylor who is the former model and newly unemployed secretary and still single at 30 years, wakes up after she is flattened by a Pontiac Aztek in a nasty coffin wearing cheap knock off shoes. Her mother is pleased with the news that Betsy is back, although as a vampire, nevertheless, her stepmother is infuriated because Betsy has reclaimed her designer shoe collection. She sets out to right wrongs with a rich best friend and a newly acquired doctor friend who is not susceptible to her redoubtable attraction but is abducted by Nostro; a 500 year old tacky vampire who is the ruler of the undead roost. It seems that Betsy is a unique vampire who doesn’t burn in sunlight; able to fight the urge to feed, and is not revolted by the religious articles. All of which seems to make her the prophesied Queen of the Vampires. Betsy decides to team up with a beautiful vampire known as Eric Sinclair, who is in her opinion is a major distort, she takes on Nostro and his minions.

Undead and Unemployed

This is the second paranormal romance novel written by MaryJanice Davidson. It is the second adventure of Elizabeth Anne Betsy Taylor in the Undead Series after she was transformed into a vampire. In this novel, just a few months after Betsy Taylor was made the Queen of the Vampires and even though she might be the Queen, apparently there are no funds to go with the title. Betsy’s house has termites and it has been damned and she has remained unemployed ever since the day she died. Her death would not have stopped her from returning to work but she was regrettably laid off from work the day she passed away. Her trip to the Unemployment centre is inescapable but even her vampire Mojo cannot make the bureaucrats around the centre to give her any sensible help to find a job. She finds herself on the shoe department of Macy’s on the way home to cheer herself up and luckily impresses the manager with her knowledge of fine footwear. She is successfully offered a job of selling shoes at the department. Betsy’s new job is just one of her several duties. Sad news strikes that someone is killing vampires in Minneapolis. Tina and Sinclair become more determined in making Betsy to do something about the rising issue. Nevertheless, Betsy too becomes a target for the vampire slayers and she treats the problem a little more serious. Amazingly, one of the teenage vampire killers immediately develops a crush on her. It is not known whether she will manage to find out who is behind the vampire killings and at the same time hold down to her job at Macy’s.
