The name ‘Masters of the Shadowlands’ refers to a series of novels written by Cherise Sinclair. Sinclair has attracted considerable acclaim as the author of numerous BDSM novels.

+The Story

Cherise Sinclair has become the unrivaled mistress of the BDSM genre. And considering the number of BDSM-based novels she has written over the years, one would have expected readers to grow fatigued with her concepts.

However, Sinclair’s books have continued to sell because she has ways of keeping her stories fresh and elevating them above the myriad erotic literature saturating the market. The Masters of the Shadowlands series is one of the several gems hiding in Sinclair’s bibliography.

The books revolve around a BDSM club known as Shadowlands. Shadowlands is a place where people congregate in order to participate in BDSM culture. Whereas many of Sinclair’s books have given focus to the women who, through their encounters with certain men, learn about BDSM, the Masters of the Shadowlands series shifts the focus to the men.

Each book in the Shadowlands series introduces readers to a new Master, an alpha male working in the Shadowlands BDSM club and whose job it is to introduce women to new aspects of pleasure. That isn’t to say that the women are completely ignored.

Along with a new master, each Shadowlands book introduces a new submissive, a woman that must learn to lose her inhibitions as she comes under the control and domination of her new master.

It has become the norm to identify different Masters of the Shadowlands books by their pair of Master and Submissive. And because all the books are connected, the introduction of new Masters allows the world of the Shadowlands club to grow, with new stories adding to its lore and history.

It’s worth noting that, even though the Shadowlands novels are connected, most of them can stand on their own. In other words, it is not necessary to read every book in the series that came before in order to enjoy the tale of any random Masters of the Shadowlands novel.

Of course, the series is best enjoyed when one actually reads all the Shadowlands books because each new story endeavors to mention the couples that were introduced in previous books and even provides progress reports on how their lives and relationships have evolved and transformed over time.

The Masters of the Shadowlands series has been praised for its delectable heroes. The men of the Shadowlands books are written to exude confidence and strength. They are always in control. They know just how hard they need to push and when to pull back, and their calm demeanor has a way of leaving readers breathless.

More importantly, Cherise Sinclaire uses the Shadowlands books to show her mastery over the BDSM genre. Sinclair is not the first author to write about BDSM. However, a lot of the BDSM literature on the market today has a tendency to make the practice appear ugly and unappealing.

The Masters of the Shadowlands series is much more tasteful in the way it deals with BDSM. Sinclair always represents the craft as if it were any other form of consensual play between two people. She emphasizes the excitement and arousal, not to mention the safety and trust involved.

However, Sinclair isn’t afraid to let her creative side loose. The Shadowlands books always keep things fresh and new.

+The Author

Cherise Sinclair is widely celebrated as the queen of erotic literature and, in particular, BDSM. Before she found publishing success, Sinclair was a home health nurse. And by the late 2000s, the author knew that she had to strive for more in life.

Not only was her health suffering but Sinclair was at a point in her life where she couldn’t appreciate her appeal as a woman. Writing was the only thing that ever brought her solace. And even though she started writing BDSM stories for her own personal enjoyment, she was greatly encouraged when another writer pushed her to self-publish her stories.

Once Sinclair realized that there was a hunger for her work, she quit everything else and put all her focus on writing. Sinclair loves men in the romance genre.

Her novels emphasize the masculinity of men and femininity of women. Sinclair believes that women want to read stories about men taking charge and women giving up their control.

+Club Shadowlands

Jessica did not intend to invade the grounds of Shadowlands. But her car was out of commission and the only source of shelter from a tropical storm was an isolated house. She didn’t expect to stumble upon a bondage club.

She definitely didn’t expect to grow aroused as she watched the Masters and their subs interact. As a professional woman, she had no business lowering herself to the base desires of the men and women around her. But her body didn’t care.

Master Z was intrigued the moment he saw the little accountant walk into the club. Intelligent and conservative, she unleashed a fire in him that he hadn’t felt in years. So he determined to see her tied up and her passions brought to the surface.

The first book in the Masters of the Shadowlands series revolves around Jessica, an ordinary woman who stumbles into the Shadowlands club. Jessica doesn’t know anything about BDSM but what she sees quickly piques her interest. Master Z is the man that shows her the ropes.

+Dark Citadel

Kari went to Club Shadowlands with the intention of being a simple observer. Even after breaking up with her date during Beginner’s Night, Kari wasn’t quite ready to reveal her BDSM fantasies for all to see.

But the school teacher didn’t expect Master Dan to be so proficient in his craft, taking everything Kari had to give and reciprocating with even greater passion.

The second book in the Masters of the Shadowlands series tends to garner more positive reviews because it delivers on the story aspect. The first book got lost in trying to introduce Club Shadowlands. This book doesn’t have to deal with that issue. As such, it can give the master and sub of the story as much attention as they deserve.
