The Pot Thief Mystery series is a series of mystery novels written by one of the award winning authors from America named Michael Orenduff. This series is comprised of a total of 7 books which were released between the years 2009 and 2016. In each and every book of this series, author Orenduff has described the chief protagonist as Hubert Schuze. Hubert is shown as a pot hunter living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He owns a shop in which he sells pottery items that belong to the time of the Native American. Throughout the course of the series, Hubert Scuze is depicted as trying to unravel one or the other mystery in his attempt to recover historical pottery items. One of the highly famous books of this series was published under the title of ‘The Pot Thief Who Studied Ptolemy’. This book was published by the Dark Oak Mysteries publication in the year 2009. At the beginning of the plot of this book, author Orenduff has shown that Hubert Schuze gets involved in a larceny act which he intends to do for a good cause. Hubert wishes to recover some sacred pots that were stolen from a mysterious Pueblo from New Mexico called San Roque. When the sacred pots were stolen, everyone had started wondering how it was made possible by the thieves because the outsiders were not allowed to enter into the Pueblo.

When Hubert Schuze sets out to recover those pots, he thinks that it would be an easy task for him as he is a well known pot digger. However, the task does appear difficult for him because the pots are not located under the ground. Rather, they are placed around 150 feet above the ground. Hubert Schuze finds out that the sacred pots are kept in an apartment on the top floor of a high security building called Rio Grande Lofts. It turns out that the apartment is located one floor above the latest love interest of Susannah, who happens to be one of Hubert’s friends. With the help of his mastery in deductive skills, Hubert Schuze makes a perfect plan for recovering the pots. However, all his plans get thwarted when he comes across the beautiful Stella in the middle of executing his perfect plan. Also, he gets arrested on the charges of murder because a dead body is discovered from the room from where he was arrested. And when the police arrived, Hubert Schuze’s hands were having the blood of the victim to them. There was a gunshot heard from the room that made everyone rush towards it. It was then that they came across Hubert Schuze with his hands soaked in blood of the victim.

Even though it appears that Hubert has landed himself in a great trouble, he does not look worried at all. He knows that he has not committed the murder and seems absolutely sure that he will be able to prove himself innocent. But, in order to do so he must be out in the open freely so that he can investigate the matter on his own. Eventually, he makes an attempt to flee from the police arrest and makes a long fall down with the help of a garbage chute. Later, he goes on to investigate the murder case and finds enough evidence to prove that the murderer is someone else. In addition to that, Hubert Schuze also becomes successful in recovering the sacred pots from the tightly secured top floor apartment of the Rio Grande building. Throughout the course of the plot, Hubert remains one step ahead of the security in the building, but also one step behind the beautiful Stella. She seems to be distracting Hubert in his good cause with her beauty. Initially, he does get distracted, but later realizes his utmost priority and acts accordingly without getting distracted by Stella’s beauty.

Another well known book written in the series by author Michael Orenduff is titled as ‘The Pot Thief Who Studied Georgia O’Keefe’. It was published in the year 2016 by the Open Road Media publication. At the start of the story, author Orenduff has shown the favorite pot thief of America, Hubert Schuze, goes on to have a face off against the United States Army. He intends to recover a precious relic from the obscurity and in order to do so, he must deal with the Army. As a dealer of the traditional pottery of Native America, Hubert Schuze scours through the whole of New Mexico in order to search ancient treasures. In doing so, he gets labeled as a criminal by the Land Management Bureau. The possible explanation that he has for all his activities of recovering ancient items is that he considers it an injustice to leave the prestigious legacies of the craftspeople of the prehistoric times remain buried in the ground. After searching and scouring for so many years there is one place in the state that he has not been able to access. And that is the Trinity Site located at the Missile Range of White Sands. It is the same place where the detonation of the first atomic bomb had taken place and so it remains well secured.

Deep inside the range there are some ruins which were once occupied by the people of the Tompiro community. They were believed to be very skilled at making distinctive pottery items, which are still considered to be very rare and valuable. Later, Hubert comes to know from one of his old associates that there is a buyer who is interested in buying a Tompiro pot and ready to give whatever price he says. Seeing it as a good opportunity to earn handsome money, Hubert Schuze decides to enter into the tightly secured military installation. However, there is something more going on in his mind than just breaking into the most sophisticated security installation of the army. He seems to be in love with a beautiful woman, who also carries some secrets of her past life. Also, Hubert’s best friend named Susannah tells him that she has found a lost painting of Georgia O’Keefe. Because of all these things happening at once, Hubert feels that there is a lot for him to handle. The tension increases further when his associate gets killed and the Tompiro pots begin to get replicated on a large scale in the black market. This makes Hubert realize that he has got himself caught in one of the most dangerous and complex mysteries that he has ever come across.
