Her writings are inspired from real world stories and in some places, the type of violence is very specific like the best scene when the first Mask shows up at Laia’s house and this scene is famous for the mask concept which was really intriguing. There’s something that was really creepy about the one behind a wall, which was written after reading a news report about riots in a former Soviet republic where there was a photo of riot police with their shields over their faces, and protesters around them. The protesters had all these raw emotions on their faces: fear and anger. All this give Sabaa a brilliant idea of mask which again added life to the story, building up reader’s interest in the story more.
