Stan Kirby is a noteworthy author of the famous novel series ‘Captain Awesome’. He has seen great success by writing this novel series and feels blessed to have chosen the career as an author. He has been very fond of superheroes since his childhood days. In fact, he used to roam around with his beach towel tied around his neck when he was just six years old and used to consider himself as the Super Commander Beach Boy. His fantasies about superheroes did not stop even when he grew up. When he was a child, he used to watch a number of superhero shows and cartoons, and also used to read novels based on the heroics of the famous superheroes. Hence, when he grew up, Stan Kirby began writing superhero novels on his own. When he used to don the attire of Super Commander Beach Boy during his childhood days, he used to show his heroics by trying his best to save the sand castles from getting destroyed by the sea waves. He would also try to prevent the seagulls from taking away his French fries. One of his main motive as Super Commander Beach boy was to keep the beach clean so that the visitors felt good to visit again and again. His acts of heroics as a child knew no bounds at that time.

Stan Kirby believes that it was this enthusiasm and passion that kept him interested in reading and writing the superhero novels. The Captain Awesome novel written by Stan is comprised of a total of 11 books which were published between the years 2012 and 2014. Other than the novels of the series, he has also written a number of standalone novels and short stories in his writing career. Stan says that when he was does the characterization of the main character Captain Awesome in the novels of the series, he always thinks of himself in his attire and imagines himself to be doing all sorts of rescue work and giving a helping hand to the needy ones. When Stan is not busy in writing novels, he likes to spend his time in reading comic books, do gliding and climbing exercise and enjoy eating okra. The novel series Captain Awesome has been written by Stan Kirby in collaboration with George O’Connor, who has done the work of being the Illustrator for the novels of the series. The series became highly popular, especially among the growing kids and helped Stan to establish his writing career. He also received a lot of motivation and encouragement from the readers, critics and his fellow authors to write more exciting and interesting novels.

The first novel of the series was published in the year 2012 by the Little Simon publishing house. The novel was titled ‘Captain Awesome to the Rescue’ and depicted the superhero antics of the main character, Captain Awesome who is actually an 8 year old boy named Eugene McGillicudy. Even though Eugene is very small to solve criminal cases, he is determined enough to do so and always keeps the bad guys at bay. He considers himself to be the most awesome superhero of his time. The plot of the novel is such that it is best suited for readers between the age of five and seven. It is believed to be efficient enough to help the younger readers get the feel from reading something very interesting. The novel is a tailor-made one for them in the form of a comprehension. The plot of the novel is full of exciting subject matter, nice illustrations, bright texts and is very well designed by the author for the specific age group. In the opening sequence of the first novel, Eugene McGillicudy is introduced as an eight year old boy, who is full of enthusiasm. He is very imaginative and loves to read comic books and superhero flicks. He also has his own alter ego in the form of Captain Awesome, whom keeps hidden from everyone else. Soon, Eugene’s family moves to a new town named Sunnyview and as a result, he is made to go to a new school and make new friends. He becomes best friends with a boy named Charlie Thomas Jones in his new school and does not stop from using his alter ego to protect his toys from his 2 year old sister named Molly. The town of Sunnyview is often under the attack from a cast of comical criminals, but this time Captain Awesome is there to save the town as well as the universe and teach moral lessons to the bad guys. The novel is full of easy to read text, with an easy and understandable language. Also, there are illustrations on every page that help the readers to understand the plot of the novel in a better way. The novel is can be used effectively by the first time readers get into the habit of reading. The younger readers found the book to be extremely interesting to read and this helped author Stan Kirby to get positive reviews for his efforts.

The second novel of the series was published by the Little Simon publishing house in the year 2012 under the title ‘Captain Awesome VS. Nacho Cheese Man’. This novel deals with the activities of the superhero named Captain Awesome, aka Eugene McGillicudy and his best friend Charlie Thomas Jones. In this novel, Captain Awesome is shown as having suspicions about his superhero best friend that he might have turned into a bad guy. Just like the first novel of the series, the second novel too is full of comprehensive plot tailor-made for the younger readers, nice illustrations, large and easy-to-read texts and a good story. In the opening plot of the novel, Eugene McGillicudy and Charlie Thomas Jones are introduced as best friends. They have formed a secret Sunnyview Superhero Squad and act as superheroes for protecting the town from the activities of the bad guys. Eugene plays the role of Captain Awesome whereas Charlie Thomas acts as Nacho Cheese man. Soon, the two indulge into a fight over a small issue and Captain Awesome begins to think that Nacho Cheese man might be a bad guy. However, he continues to fight the bad guys of the town along with him. In his attempt to distinguish between the good guys and the bad guys, Captain Awesome learns and important lesson about trust, hard work and friendship. He also realizes what it means to be a superhero.
