Wahida Clark is one of the highly reputed authors from America who likes to write her books based on the literature & fiction, urban fiction, spirituality, and nonfiction genres. She is particularly well known for creating the sub-genre of street lit known as the Thug Love Fiction. Author Clark is believed to be the first street lit writer to have written a series. Before attempting to write novels in her writing career, author Clark served a period of 9 and half years in imprisonment. Later, she was released into one of the halfway houses. As of today, she has made a name for herself as a popular author of the urban fiction genre. She is also the acting Vice President of a non profit organization known as the ‘Prodigal Sons and Daughters, Redirection Service’. This organization serves as a reentry program for the ex-cons and convicts. Apart from that, author Clark also runs a publishing company called as the WCP Publishing. As far as her writing career is concerned, she has gone on to become a USA Today, Essence, and the New York Times bestselling novelist. So far, she has written three urban fiction novel series and a few standalone novels in her writing career. Author Clark began her writing career in the year 2002 when she published the debut novel of her career titled as ‘Thugs and Women Who Love Them’. This novel went on to become a bestseller in most parts of the world and helped author Clark have a colorful start to her writing career.

Clark was born and brought up in Trenton, New Jersey, United States. She decided to take up writing as a career at the time when she was serving a federal camp for women in Lexington, Kentucky. Very soon, she found her interest in writing raw, street articles. As a writer, Clark is believed to have an imagination that always seems to be in overdrive. Whenever the readers read her novels, they feel as if they know the characters or they feel like meeting them. Some of them also feel as if they are inside the plot. The independent publishing house that author Clark operates and owns is regarded as the fastest growing and the most popular one in the industry. It is located in East Orange, New Jersey. Before entering into the world of writing, Clark used to live the life of a thug. She was mainly involved in wire fraud, mail fraud, and money laundering. And when she was finally caught, she was handed a prison time of 10 years. While serving for her frauds, author Clark got engaged in a course in creative writing. This helped her to write her first book in the prison itself. Author Clark wrote her first book in the yellow pages of a legal pad by hand. She continues to practice this style of writing even today. The initial several that she wrote were released while she was serving in jail. However, after getting released, she went on to launch her own publishing house, called as the Wahida Clark Presents (WPC), Publishing Company LLC. Other than spending her time in writing novels, author Clark also likes to engage herself in motivational speaking. She is often called to speak at the juvenile facilities, halfway houses, prisons, and junior high schools. In all these facilities, author Clark tries to encourage the audiences to develop their skills, dream big, and not waste their time in unwanted activities.

One of the most successful novel series written by author Wahida Clark is known as the Payback series. This series consists of 4 books in total, released between the years 2006 and 2014. The debut novel of the series is titled as ‘Payback is a Mutha’. The Kensington publication had released this book in the year 2006. The book shows the life of a woman who believes that she has everything in life, but has many things to lose, including her best friend as well as her life. The main characters include Shan and Brianna, who do not seem to be any different from others. With her closet always full of Prada, Chanel, and Gucci items, Brianne always thinks that the men in her life are only for bankrolling her lifestyle. On the other hand, Shan works at a men’s prison to earn her own money. She prefers low quality items in comparison with the ones that Brianna uses. But, in spite of all the differences in their appearance, both Shan ad Brianna are like sisters and they help each other whenever needed. Brianna believes that she could get anything in life just with the help of lies. By lying, she gets pretty much everything in life including cars, clothes, and sex. She does not care about hurting anyone in doing so. But on one occasion, her tricks go wrong due to which Shan gets stuck in the crossfire. As more and more blood begins to spill, Brianna thinks that she has only one chance to set the things right. As the lives of both Brianna and her best friend are on the line, she thinks to do what is right or else be ready to face the consequences.

The next book in this series is titled as ‘Payback With Ya Life’. It was released by the Grand Central publication in the year 2008. The story of this book shows the old scores in the life of Shan get settled and make way for new tensions. In the beginning, Shan is shown as still trying to recover from the trauma of her best friend’s suicide. She is now pregnant and is forced to take some big decisions related to her life. In an attempt to leave behind her fast life, Shan decides to move to Detroit as she believes that it will her to gain more strength as a woman. But, someone seems to be trying to take revenge against Shan’s brother, named Peanut, and destroy the life of Shan simultaneously. Peanut seems to be torn between the his sister’s love and his desire to reach on top of the drug world. He knows the streets’ danger very well. Very soon, the old scores turn into the new ones, a turf war appears to begin on the streets. As the stakes appear to be very high in these testing times, very few people are expected to remain standing in the end. And with her determination and dedication, Shan is desperate to be one of them.

Will there be a follow up to “Seven”? Is Trae and Tasha’s story done, as of now?
