Wendy Corsi Staub is an acclaimed award-winning author of the New York’s best seller the night watcher series that was concluded in 2012. This prolific writer has shown metal having over eighty books under the belt and more lined up for the coming years. Having her work translated into other languages too has made it possible for her stories to be told the world over.
Wendi Corsi Staub knew from early age that she wanted to be a writer. In need of works and perhaps due to her passion, Wendy worked in different bookshops. This was followed closely by a move to New York. There, she would work at a publishing house as an editor and would later on move into advertising. For a while, she worked as an accounts coordinator as she worked on her first book.
Summer lightning was Wendy’s first book. This is a young adult thriller released in 1991. The story features a young girl of age seventeen that is visited by a mysterious ghost. Promised love and protection, the young Mellisa is torn in between choosing her current boyfriend and this imaginary new lover. It is a story with many twists to the plot and the take on paranormal romance is also very impressive. This book launched her career and since then she has sold over four million books worldwide.
Wendy writes both suspense novel under her name and also write women fiction novels. The women fiction novels are, however, under her pseudo name Wendy Markham. For the suspense series, social media predator, we find such titles as; the good sister, perfect stranger, and the black widow. The black widow was on the USA today’s bestseller and was closely followed by cold-hearted in 2014.
For her work on women fiction. She has received numerous awards, and notably most of her titles have appeared in the bestseller lists for, Amazon, USA today, BookScan, and barn. These titles include; if only in my dream which is a time travel romance novel, slightly married, and a visit to the paranormal romance in the comedy; love, suburban style.
The book series done by Wendy have entertained readers for years, and this has not passed without recognition. In 2000, Wendy was awarded as one of New York Westchester’s county millennial authors. She has won both the Irvin prize for fiction and the RWA Rita awards twice. Wendy is also a recipient of the RWA NYC lifetime achievement Golden Apple award and in 2002 slightly single was selected for Waldenbooks top 100 best fiction titles. Five of her titles have also been nominated for the RT book club reviewer’s choice awards. Wendy has been nominated for the Mary Higgins award on numerous occasions.
Some of the most recognizable books written by Wendy are those on the Lily Dale series. The series featured four books; connecting, discovering, awakening, and believing. These are all listed as young adult books but can be enjoyed by anyone. They are set in a small town of Lily Dale in New York where only mediums can reside.These titles include; if only in my dream which is a time travel romance novel, slightly married, and a visit to the paranormal romance in the comedy; love, suburban style.
In the story if you do not pass a certain test then you would not be allowed to live there. It features a story of young calla who thought that losing her boyfriend was the worst thing that could have happened. She then realized that she had to go and live with her grandmother since her father had to move to California for work. The plot thickens when she realizes that everyone in Lily Dale is not who they seem to be, and her grandmother is medium too. These thriller series has made her favorite of the readers with an unquenchable thirst for suspense, mystery, or even the paranormal. These books are a must read.
Some of her books have also been adapted into films. A good example is hello it’s me. A romantic novel written under her pseudo name Wendy Makhan. Wendy implies in a guest post for the Hallmark channel that the book was inspired by a comment she heard at one of the September 11 memorials. The lady mentioned that she used to call her husband cellphone so that she could listen to him on the voice message. Hello it’s me features a similar theme; Annie, regularly calls her husband’s cell phone to listen to him too. They had made a promise to each other that they would never have anyone else no matter what happens. This is a promise she struggles to keep, especially, when she finds someone she likes. One day when she calls the cell, she is sure that it is her husband’s voice she hears.
Wendy also mentions that she can relate to Wendy due to the ups and downs she has endured throughout her career. She mentions that some of her books had been chosen for movie adaptation only for the movies to remain unreleased. Having this story on the screen was a major achievement and in her words “life is good again.”
Wendy is also a champion for the war against cancer and participates in the efforts to reduce the deaths caused by this disease. She has worked with are the American Cancer Society, Relay for life and support connection. She also worked as the national spokesperson for the ovarian awareness campaign with the Sandy Roll Man Ovarian cancer foundation. Having lost both her mother and her mother in law to breast cancer, she understands the struggle, pain and suffering that cancer can bring. She also understands that there is hope, and more can be done to help comfort, and heal those are fighting this disease.
She is an animal rights champion with a soft spot for cats. She works closely with the animal shelters in New York and fosters cats and kittens for them. She also works with many animal rescue organizations to ensure that the animals find a new home.
The mother of two still lives in New York with her husband a 1986 graduate of the State University of New York.

I love the Lilydale books! I first read the books with Bella and now I’m finishing the 3rd book in the series featuring Calla. Are there more Lilydale stories?
