Big Nobody is a 2026 novel by Alex Kadis. This is a fresh new book from a voice in fiction that you won’t want to miss out on. If you’re someone who loves getting the latest book and opening up to an all new story that you haven’t read yet, this could be a perfect fit for you.

Serious but extremely funny, this novel focuses on a misfit teen in London who is coming of age. She is also determined to get rid of the one thing that she sees as being between her and living a good life, which also happens to be her father. For readers who are looking to laugh while turning the pages, there’s no better place to be.

For main character Connie Costa, she thinks that it’s probably a safe thing to say that when it comes to her father, he was likely always an abomination of nature.

The year is 1974 and the place is London. Connie Costa would not say that she has much of a life, but the little of a pitiful one that she has apparently has decided to go off the rails already, and she’s not sure how she’s going to get it back on track.

Connie is dealing with the loss of not only her mother but her younger brothers in an accident that could only be described as tragic. But what makes it harder than anything is the fact that she believes the person responsible is her father, who she also calls by the name of ‘The Fat Murderer’.

Connie is someone who stays at home under his rule, which is getting increasingly tyrannical. She doesn’t socialize much with others her age and considers herself an outcast. She spends her free time at night having talks with the David Bowie poster on her wall and occasionally dipping in to her stash of chocolate and whiskey, which she keeps secret and to herself.

The only social outlet that she has is the way that she gets together on a weekly basis with her father as well as the immigrant community of Greek ‘Freaks’ that he associates with. There she is able to find a bright space in life with her friend Vas, as they sneak off to smoke cigarettes, talk about literature, and makes jokes about whether it might finally be the right time to sneak off and run away from all of this together.

It may seem like just jokes, but there’s truth at the heart of it. Connie had never considered what she might do in order to taste freedom. When she sees the chance to get away from her father and his rule for good, she’s going to have to make a risky choice that could end up changing who she sees herself as forever.

Tender and dramatic, serious but very funny, this story is surprisingly warm and may even lift reader’s spirits. It’s all about the path that we end up taking to finding ourselves as well as a tale about the people around us who do their best to keep us afloat. Check out this book from Alex Kadis to experience all of the humor and go along on this touching roller coaster ride of a story by getting your hands on a copy of Big Nobody!
