Prominent characters from the Will Robie series appear in the book Walk the Wire, part of the Amos Decker series, and should be read after End Game.
In the Will Robie series, America has enemies —a group of ruthless people that the FBI, police, even the US military can’t stop. In order to combat them, the government calls on the support of Will Robie, the stone-cold hitman who doesn’t question any orders and always nails down his target.

The first novel in the Will Robie series is THE INNOCENT which was released in 2012. THE HIT was later released in 2013. David Baldacci has written several books since childhood, after his mother had given him a lined notebook to write down all his stories. A lifelong Virginian, Baldacci received his Bachelor’s degree from The Virginia Commonwealth University while he got his law degree from University of Virginia School of Law before practicing law in Washington.

Besides being a prolific writer, Baldacci is also a devoted philanthropist. Along with Michelle, his wife, David Baldacci established the Wish You Well Foundation that supports adult and family literacy in the U. S by promoting and fostering the expansion and development of literacy as well as educational programs.

Currently with more than 30 books under his belt, Baldacci has written 6 mystery series so far and numerous standalone novels. Below are the first two books in the Will Robie Series.

The Innocent, is the first novel in David Baldacci’s Will Robie Series featuring Will Robie, a new character. Robie works for one secret clandestine agency in the US and is one of their best operatives. His whole life revolves around his missions and job and is portrayed as being the perfect operative.

His employer decided who amongst the breathing and living would qualify as the target. They later turned to men like Will Robie to end the living part. This made the world much better, which was the justification. The novel starts off with a certain back-story of some of Will Robie’s previous missions and jobs which will give you a bit of an insight into the character as well as his life.

Robie is somehow surprised about his latest assignment. In this assignment, the target is a certain Washington DC female U.S government employee who happens to have a family. His own instincts are telling Robie that something isn’t right and has he hesitates carrying out his orders; another sniper finishes this mission instead.

He later realizes that you should not play around with the duty of completing any mission. As a result, he leaves town while under the radar and then heads off to New York City till when he finds out more details about his failed mission as well as the possibility that he might become the next target.

Julie Getty, fourteen years old, is a smart, street-wise and touch who is on the run just after witnessing the killing of her parents. Robie and Julie Getty’s paths cross when they board the same bus. When Robie saves her from an assassin whom he recognizes, they later team up to solve the reason for being targeted. Their first meeting initially seems unrelated to one another’s dilemma.

However, the events that follow on show a strong connection between her family’s murder and his mission. They later join forces with the local FBI agent, who agrees to help them. This later becomes a race against time in finding the people who are responsible for these crimes and not knowing the people that they can trust.

Engrossing, tense, believable characters, good pacing, action packed twists and the humor and turns are the some of the experiences that you will get from this book. The Innocent is an ideal novel for fans of the laconic, enigmatic, capable thriller/action heroes.

The Hit Will Robie later returns in Baldacci’s The Hit, the second novel in Will Robie Series in yet another engrossing thriller. In this novel, Will Robie is the master of killing. A highly skilled killer, Will Robie is the man that the government calls on so as to eliminate the worst-enemies of the state, the monsters who are committed to harming several innocent victims.

There’s no person who can match Will Robie’s talents as being a hitman. Literally no person, except Jessica Reel. Jessica Reel is a fellow assassin, who is equally dangerous and professional. Jessica is a bit as lethal as Will Robie. She has now gone rogue, turning all her gun sights on the other members of the agency. This is another great page-turner by Baldacci.

Will Robie is assigned now by his agency so as to hunt down the rogue agent named Jessica Reel. Jessica Reel has killed several fellow operatives. Since details are sketchy for Will Robie, he slowly discovers Jessica Reel’s true intentions.

However, he’s still not sure if she is doing it just to betray her own country or for some other reasons. In this relentlessly paced book, Jessica Peel, an assassin has gone off the reservations and killed her own handler instead of her main target.

She later targets a higher level member of the U.S intelligence community. The U.S government is worried because Reel is extremely lethal and well trained. Will Robie, has made a somehow impossible killshot through the brick wall in the Central Park, when he was asked by the government to track down Jessica Reel.

Robie, a lethal assassin in his rights, isn’t a detective yet he knows how assassins usually operate. He is capable of spotting a booby trapped house as well as handling a gun under fire. Naturally, not all things are as they seem to be.

Reel is sending Will Robie text messages on a “secret agenda”. When he visits with Janet DiCarlo, the high level CIA boss, Will Robie discloses that his investigations are being blocked because his source materials are being redacted. At a second meeting, Janet DiCarlo reveals that supplies and men are being moved without the knowledge of the government’s.

However, before DiCarlo and Robie can come to grips with her seems like a woman returned fire so as to allow Will Robie to escape. What’s going on? Who was targeting DiCarlo and Robie? And if it isn’t Reel shooting at them, then who could have ever wanted to silence Janet DiCarlo? There’s another player in this game, a conspiracy.

As such, it’s up to Will Robie to find out whose side Reel is on, and then bring the war to the actual enemy of the country. While missing on the human interest angle in the first book in the Will Robie series, Baldacci has managed to keep the tension quite high and the ultimate evil guys are quite hard to figure out.

The novel is an engrossing read, action packed and fast paced. This is yet another winner within the master of the thriller’s genre. This is a fantastic and gripping plot that’s filled with the death-defying action, tension as well as a dramatic and gripping climax.

The Hit is a total page-turner that’ll certainly keep you glued on your seat. If you really love political thrillers, then the Will Robie series is a must for you!

Great, great series. I devoured each book as soon as it was published. Wonderful main characters, lots of action, top-notch plotting. Strongly recommended. My only complaint: that Baldacci ended it – I wanted more, much more!👍
