Glory Be is the first book in the Glory Broussard Mystery series of novels by Danielle Arceneaux. If you are a big fan of crime stories with a bit of mystery and want to try something new, this is the perfect debut to look into.

This is the first of a crime series that is set in the bayou of Louisiana. It is within these books that readers will first encounter the amateur sleuth known by the name of Glory Broussard.

It’s a hot day in Lafayette, Louisiana, a Sunday where the temperatures have soared so high that things have gotten positively sticky. Glory has gotten settled into her typical routine after church is completed, meeting up with gamblers at the local coffee shop. There’s a reason for this, and it’s not because she’s trying to set them straight; on the contrary, she works there as a small time bookie.

While sitting at her usual table on the corner, Glory hears some horrible news about her best friend. Her BFF was a nun who was highly regarded and loved in the community, and now she has been discovered dead in her apartment.

The police look into the strange death and they ultimately declare that it is a suicide. But Glory knew her close friend better than that and is sure that when it comes to this story, there has to be more to it than that. The police have simply gotten things wrong, and now it is up to this bookie to try and dig a little deeper and get to the truth on her own.

Glory has herself utterly convinced that the cops have got it wrong, but thinking that they’re off with their estimations and proving it is another thing entirely. She has her reluctant daughter and her own troubles to deal with, but she’s bringing them both along with them on an amateur investigation into what really happened with her closest friend.

So it is that a shadow investigation is launched where Glory tries to find the truth, looking for clues in a town that is filled with oil tycoons, gossips in church, and a voodoo priestess. She is a black woman who is at a certain age who grew up in Louisiana at a time where things were still segregated. As a result, she is no stranger to being overlooked or minimized.

However, Glory is not going to let anything stop her. She is more determined than ever to try and make her presence known as the case takes her deeper than ever into a web spun of intrigue that she never truly understood that this city could have.

Will she be too spooked by what she finds to move forward? Can Glory find enough clues to actually have a shot at cracking this case and proving that her friend did not in fact take her own life and clear her name? Pick up a copy of this tantalizing mystery tale to find out!

Glory Daze is the second book in the Glory Broussard Mystery series of novels by Danielle Arceneaux. If you really enjoyed the first book in this series, be sure to check out this second mystery and follow along once more with the detecting adventures of Glory Broussard.

Glory Broussard is back again and now she has a new mystery situation to be involved in. This time she’s finding herself engaged in the mystery of the death of her ex-husband, and is finding that she has an ally that she did not predict at her side.

Solving the case of what happened to Sister Amity Gay was her first amateur mystery, and proving that it was a murder and not a suicide ended up nearly turning her world upside down. After that happened, the only thing that Glory desired in life was just some peace and quiet.

This included returning to her usual Sunday morning routine in the coffee shop working as a bookie, as well as helping to plan the annual Mardi Gras gala for her church. But it turns out that rest is not in the cards for Glory.

The woman who helped to break up her marriage comes into the very same coffee shop she frequents and requests some help in locating her husband who has gone missing. But it doesn’t take too long for the amateur sleuth to discover the spouse. The only trouble is that he has a knife stuck in his chest.

When it comes to the victim, Glory was well acquainted with this man as well as his dark side. On this one, she’d prefer to let the cops handle it. However, her daughter wants her involved in it while still handling problems she has on her own.

Glory looks for the murderer, but her search is about to take her far inside the seedier world of this state than she knew, going into high roller casino rooms for VIPs and checking out stables at the racetracks. Glory is not only attempting to solve a murder, she’s also contending with the woman who had an affair with her ex-spouse and is trying to figure out what secrets her daughter is keeping.

She also knows that there are a few select church group members who would enjoy seeing her fail in her responsibilities for planning Mardi Gras. With plenty on her plate, Glory is going to have to go deep inside and find her inner resolve and do her best to try and rise to the top. Can she succeed at solving a murder and more? Read this fascinating book from Danielle Arceneaux to find out!
