E.C. Myers is a published American author.

Myers comes from Korean and German heritage. He grew up being raised by his mother, a single parent, and gained plenty from spending time at the public library in Yonkers, New York.

The author has won plenty of awards for his work. His first novel Fair Coin won him the Andre Norton Nebula Award. He is also by now a bestselling author who has reached the tops of the charts of the New York Times. He has also worked on the RWBY books for young adults, the SOS thriller series, and two interactive novels for the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise.

He attended the Clarion West Writers Workshop and graduated. He also belonged to the NYC writing group, Altered Fluid. He has written short stories that have been released to readers through publication in magazines and anthologies. These include The Sunday Morning Transport, A Thousand Beginnings and Endings, Tasting Light: Ten Science Fiction Stories to Rewire Your Perceptions, and Overwatch 2: Heroes Ascendant.

Myers has also penned serialized fiction for various podcasts such as Alternis, ReMade, The Next Chapter, and The Sounds of Nightmares, which was the first audio fiction series from the Little Nightmares video games world.

When he is not busy writing, you can find Myers doing different things. These include blogging about Star Trek, reading constantly, watching television or film, playing video games, sleeping far too little, and spending a lot of time on the Internet (maybe too much).

Fair Coin is the first book in the Coin series by E.C. Myers. It also was the winner of the 2012 Andre Norton Award in the category of young adult science fiction and fantasy. Main character Ephraim comes home one day to an awful scene. The last thing that he expected to see when he came home from school at the end of the day was his mother unconscious, but that is exactly what has happened. She is out cold at the kitchen table, with a bottle of pills in her hand. Worse than her attempt at suicide is the reason behind it. That would be the dead boy at the hospital that afternoon, the one that she identified and who looks just like Ephraim.

While looking through the belongings of his death double, the boy finds an odd coin. More than that, it appears to have magical powers. Every time he flips it, it makes his wishes come true. It does not take too long before he has made the wish that his alcoholic mother would be an ideal parent, and that the girl that he has been crushing on ever since the second grade has noticed him at last.

It all seems to be working very well, but Ephraim starts to realize that this coin actually has some consequences. Wishes start to go wrong in various horrible ways, and his best friend Nathan is developing an obsession with the coin. More than that, the world starts changing in ways that are unexpected.

Ephraim starts to learn more about the secrets of the coin, and tries to learn how to handle its power. In the meantime, he’s going to have to keep it away from his friend as much as he can and try to figure out a way to get back to the world that he remembers existing. For Ephraim, he believed that his days of hopping the universe were done. He has experienced magical answers to all his problems, but he’s done with the wishing process anyway. This is a good thing since the quantum coin has apparently been without powers for nearly a year. He’s also come into a more normal life along with Jena, his girlfriend.

Things start getting chaotic when an old pal decides that she wants to go to their senior prom. That would be Zoe, Jena’s identical twin who comes from a parallel world. Zoe’s timing is terrible. Ephraim’s problems are just getting started, and it turns out that they’re even more intricate than his love life. At stake through this all is the multiverse. And worse than that, it all might be his fault.

Ephraim, Jena and Zoe have decided that it’s time tot go across different worlds so that they can find out what has gone wrong and figure out some way to stop it. In the process, they are going to have to pull on all of their resources while trusting in different versions of themselves and friends. If they can’t do this, it might already be too late.

Ephraim and his companions are going to have to agree to put their differences to the side and choose to work together. If they can do that, they might be able to save the multiverse. But the real answer might come from how much they are willing to give up for humanity, and each other. Will they be able to do it or are they up against something they can’t overcome?
