Kristy Boyce is an American published author.
She resides in Columbus, Ohio. She is a senior lecturer at The Ohio State University, where she teaches psychology. She loves spending time with her family, which includes her husband and son. She is frequently found writing, reading a good book, and putting together her own quirky fairy gardens.
Kristy also likes watching reality television that makes her happy. She loves The Great British Bake-Off and the show So You Think You Can Dance. She also works as a social media coordinator for Central and Southern Ohio SCBWI.
The bestselling author has reached the tops of the charts in publications such as The New York Times. She is known for writing many different books, including her Gaming and Romance series. She was in high school when she played her first role playing game and has remained good friends with that group (and ended up marrying the DM).
Kristy has been writing ever since she was very young. The first story that she wrote was titled ‘The Dreams of Isabella’. The story revolved around a young girl who was able to visit different magical places in her dreams. Kristy kept up with writing stories about magical places all through her childhood, although she has to admit that she was significantly better when it came to beginning new stories than finishing them.
She always dreamed that she would become an author, although she divulges that sometimes it seemed like a fantasy from one of her own stories. She kept at writing, sticking it with it through all of junior high, high school, and college. She also had an obsession with ballet as well as making her own scrapbooks and spending time playing with her cats. She took a brief break from writing so that she could go after her social psychology PhD, but immediately went back to writing stories the second that she had free time again.
Boyce began writing seriously, hoping to be published, in 2008. Ever since then she has stayed busy going to different writing conferences and workshops located all around the country. She recounts that she is always looking for an adorable fairy, unicorn, or narwhal, and says that no matter what, she will always be a teen girl at heart.
Dungeons and Drama is the first book in the Gaming and Romance series by Kristy Boyce. This is a book intended for the YA audience, but you don’t have to be a certain age to enjoy this book! If you enjoy a light romance story, this is a great selection for you.
It doesn’t hurt sometimes to play some games when it comes to romance, or does it? Main character Riley is a sweet girl and a big musical lover. She has always wanted to become a director on Broadway, and that has always been her big plan. Central to this plan and crucial to it being pulled off is the attempt to bring back the spring musical at her high school.
Riley grabs her mom’s car but doesn’t get permission, and when it’s found out she quickly gets grounded. She is saddled with the punishment of spending her hours after school working at her father’s game shop.
Riley doesn’t want to spend all of her time working when she has her goal of saving the musical. She has a workaround all figured out, though. She’s going to get the nerdy teen employee Nathan to cover all of her shifts. The only thing she needs to do in return is to flirt with him for the purposes of making the gamer girl that he likes notice him.
She didn’t actually realize that the ruse would mean that she would have to become a part of the Dungeons & Dragons game that Nathan was running. She also didn’t anticipate that role playing could be such a fun thing. But she’s starting to realize that flirting with Nathan is not the type of thing that requires her to pretend all that much. Could she have a crush on him herself and if so, what will she do? Read this book to find out what happens!
Dating and Dragons is the second book in the Gaming and Romance series by Kristy Boyce. Do you love a good gaming romance and like a good love story? If so, you’re definitely going to want to check out this story, the perfect selection for a commute or just a cozy read at home.
Main character Quinn Norton is having to begin all over again at a new high school. She doesn’t really know anybody, but she is hoping that finding a Dungeons & Dragons game will help her get to know people and make some new friends. It seems like a great plan that is going to work because she gets invited to join a group fairly quickly.
The group has in it Logan Weber, a charming and cute guy that she met the first day that she had class. This isn’t the average Dungeons & Dragons campaign, either. This group does their best to livestream their games and they also have some rules that they enforce heavily. This means that no one is allowed their phones and there is to be absolutely no dating of other members in the group.
Quinn isn’t excited about the rules, but she also really wants to make friends. She accepts the rules even though it has the unfortunate side effect of meaning that Logan is completely off limits to her. But it turns out that him being off limits is not going to be an issue.
Logan ends up going from being a charismatic and attractive guy to just completely annoying and insufferable from the minute that she joins the group. They bicker and banter inside the game and outside of it. Through it all, Quinn wonders whether his behavior is something set up to cover for Logan’s true feelings. Will Quinn put everything on the line for love? Read the second book in the Gaming and Romance series by Kristy Boyce to find out!
