Chaos Theory is a fictional book from Gary Krist. The New York Times praised this book, saying that the author is able to remind readers ‘how much fun reading can be’. This is a very readable thriller story that is set in Washington D.C. in the mid-nineties, a city that is about to stand on the brink of collapse socially, economically, and morally.

Jason Rourke is white and Dennis Monroe is black. They’re generally good kids and share a good friendship. On a dare one night, they end up driving to a bad part of Washington so that they can score a little marijuana and just get high. It seems like something straightforward and what could possibly go wrong?

It unfortunately is not their night, and the deal ends up going horribly wrong. Far from seamless, before the night is over a shot will go off. Jason and Dennis are just barely able to get away from it all, but before they make their exit, there is a small time drug dealer left behind in the street lying there wounded.

They would hope that it would all blow over, but the event sparks a series of events that means that the two are about to find out that their troubles have just begun. When the next morning starts, the pair find out that the incident that went down with the drug dealer was a lot worse than it first appeared.

Now Jason and Dennis are finding out that they are the prime suspects in a strange homicide case. Once they do, they decide that it is a wise decision to flee from it all, which leaves their families not only scared about what’s going on but confused too.

What ended up beginning as an innocent moment of teen mischief ends up ballooning into something far worse. Now they find themselves in a nightmare, an ordeal that is more than life threatening and dangerous, and one that is going to eventually pull these teens into a scheme of murders and cover-ups in the city that might just have to do with some of the most trusted and prominent public officials in Washington.

This book is full of intelligence and interesting characters coming together in a drama that you won’t want to miss. Check out this sophisticated novel from Gary Krist to capture all of the suspense for yourself and follow along in a city that is far more corrupt and troubled than it seems.

Extravagance is another book from Gary Krist. If you have been searching for a book that is unique and creative, check this story out and see what you think!

William Tobias Merrick is a young man full of energy. He hails from the provinces and makes his way to the big city during a time of optimism, hoping that he will be able to make his mark on a society that is obsessed with money as well as the promise that new technology could deliver.

The city is London in the 1690s as well as New York in the 1990s. The new tech that is on the scene at the time is pneumatic winches, diving bells, and sucking-worm drainage engines. They also include wireless telecommunication devices, electronic internet routers, and patented biotechnology processed. The only thing that stays the same throughout is the sense that there is unlimited possibility.

Unfolding at the same time in two different periods of history that have many things in common, this picturesque novel has plenty of comic moments in the middle of financial mania, and tells the story of a world that is taken over by a case of irrational exuberance.

Making their way through the perils of both eras is a case of characters. These include Will, a young man on the rise who is willing to do whatever it takes when it comes to making his fortune. Then there is Will’s uncle and his sponsor, Gilbert Hawking, a businessman with a shrewd eye who has one foot in the old economy and one set firmly in the new. There is also Benjamin Fletcher, who has developed a pioneering new technology that is going to set the world on fire, and Theodore Witherspoon, an unscrupulous wizard of the financial markets who is promising them all that he can end up making all of them wealthier than they ever dreamed of.

At the same time, the aspirations that Will has are made even more complicated by the way that he pursues Eliza, Ben Fletcher’s sister. She is a beautiful woman and aggressive as well, someone who is as desirable as she is elusive. Will Will be able to be successful in his work to try and win over Eliza as well as the fortune that her brother’s tech could bring him?

Will he be able to make all of it happen before the happiness and euphoria of this age gets to its climax? Find out by getting a copy of Extravagance from Gary Krist!
