Kal Griffith is a published author.

He is known for being a light novel and litrpg writer. His first series to come out was This Academy Extra, and was quickly followed by others books and series. These include the Imperial Summoner series, the Duke’s Unlikely Heir series, the Second Son of the 34th series, and the Above the Drowning Light series.

Before Griffith started coming out with his own stories, he was a huge gamer and book fan. He still likes both of those things to this day! It eventually came to him that putting gaming and books together made complete sense and that he had to do it. He says that if readers like compelling characters or immersive gaming experiences, there’s a good chance that they’ll like these books.

Kal grew up in a small town when he was younger. He says that it was a great experience, but it also was the type of place that wasn’t precisely brimming with adventure or things to do. He theorizes that this is likely why he has had a habit of being pulled to the types of stories that are able to take you away to someplace completely different. He really enjoys creating places where the extraordinary is able to come together with the ordinary.

He describes himself as a guy who loves to write and game, and says that he is constantly finding inspiration in things of the everyday. As an author, he also says that he likes to chat with his readers online, and encourages readers who would like to reach out to not be shy about doing so. It doesn’t matter what type of reader you are, he invites all readers to come on these adventures and dive into these worlds.

Leoncrest Academy is the first book in the Second Son of the 34th series by author Kal Griffith. Main character Zeke de’Godfrey was someone who was never intended to fight. He is the second son who is born to a noble line in his family, but it is all fading. His only job was something easy and designed for him. He was supposed to just stay out of everything, enjoy all of the ambiance and food and drinks, go after girls, and allow his older brother to carry everything.

Artax ended up carrying everything just like he intended. He was the final hope for House Godfrey and carried a blade that never, ever broke. He also had 34 Emblems. Everything was going well and according to plan until it wasn’t. Artax lost it all when he went up against Socrax the Frost Dragon in battle.

Now they are seeing that all of the knives are out. Worse than that, the house is going down and doing extremely poorly. Zeke ends up making a decision and goes before the Senate, and vows to become his brother’s sword. While Leoncrest Academy is good, and prestigious, it’s not the type of place that is made for second sons. It is instead for killers, heirs, or prodigies. Unfortunately, Zeke doesn’t feel that he quite makes the bill for any of those.

Without any foresight, his Aura core ended up shattering, and his legend was brought to a close. He doesn’t have a forged Aura of his own and has never been in command. But Zeke knows one thing is for certain, and that is the fact that he made a promise, and he intends to keep it. There’s no one else out there who can do it.

He doesn’t enjoy being at the academy at all once he gets in. The drills are painful, and the spells don’t always go as intended. Looking around, he can see that the other students are all much more advanced and seem as though they were born to do this. They’re all sharper than him, and seem stronger and faster. But Zeke knows that he’s not going to get anywhere if he gives in.

He repeatedly gets back up and gives it his best. In between the failures and the duels, something starts coming together. He has a reason to fight that is just his and no one else’s. Leoncrest Academy is the type of place that makes heroes by forging them in the fire. At this stage of the game, Zeke is just doing his best to try and make it through so that he can become a hero. Zeke de’Godfrey was accepted to Leoncrest Academy and successfully completed his first challenge. He had been the second son who was forgotten in the family, but now he has become more important to his family’s future than they could have ever imagined. His brother Artax also went through this and did well. He made his way through all of the Trials and was known for it. That was all before the shattering of his Aura. Zeke understands that there are enemies out there that tried to bring his brother down and even came for Zeke personally, trying to take him down during the Trial.

Unfortunately, the Academy is very risky and full of dangers. Zeke is having to deal with a lot, from his progress getting blocked by the Headmistress to political rivals all around him and cults doing rituals in the woods outside of campus. He doesn’t have connections or training, but he instead has a family he needs to protect, a promise to come through on, and great loyal friends.
