Katarina Bivald is a successful published author whose works have allowed her to reach the bestsellers’ lists for USA Today and the New York Times.

When she was younger, she inadvertently prepared for a life in the literary field by working in a book shop part time. She resides just outside of Stockholm, Sweden today. She lives with her sister and as many bookshelves as she will allow. She is attempting to get her sister to understand that a shelf for jackets and shoes is not needed and a book shelf or two in its place would be a great idea. Her sister is currently also not budging on her decision to keep the bathroom from being used as a place to store books.

She sometimes says that she has not yet decided whether she prefers books to people, but it’s obvious one is in the lead. Even if you are a people person, Katarina thinks they may be better in books. The benefit of real people is that when you read a great book, you then have someone that you can recommend it to. When not reading, she loves to spend time with her dog.

The Murders in Great Diddling is the first book in the Berit Gardner series by Katarina Bivald. If you have been looking for a cozy mystery to enjoy, this is a great selection. It’s the perfect read whether you are hanging out with home, a passenger on the way somewhere, or just trying to kill some time while at an appointment.

Sometimes the greatest stories end up being the ones that we did not know needed to be told and heard. Great Diddling is a small village that has become run down a bit over the years, but it still has a lot to offer. Berit Gardner is an author, and she can sense that this place is just filled to the brim with stories.

She notices it in the little things of this place. The villagers tend to avoid people from the outside. They stare at them and whisper when newcomers are around. Berit knows that there is something here and and feels the edge of a story that is just waiting to be unraveled further, and knows that she would be the ideal person for this task.

It’s great timing, since she has a book deadline coming that is headed over her way and she’s in big trouble about it if she doesn’t deliver. They want a manuscript, and she doesn’t have one. She doesn’t even have the idea for one at the moment. So it’s clear that inspiration is not only wanted but necessary in this case. Berit actually needs a story to inspire her, and this place could be the one to deliver.

Berit could have had no idea that she would actually join the action herself while going to a tea party held in the village. An explosion goes off in the library of the grand manor that kills a local man. Everyone is shocked and there is an investigation that comes after, as well as a flutter of outsiders who are interested. The quiet community ends up becoming quite enveloped by chaos as a result.

The residents there are still intriguing to Berit, who finds them all interesting and eccentric, more so than anyone she could have come up with herself. They end up rewriting their narrative, changing the death of someone that they knew well from a sad thing into the potential for a new start.

Great Diddling has a new found notoriety, and the villagers want to use this momentum for something positive. They get together to start a festival revolving around books and murder, which they think will bring some tourists and income to their town. They could not have seen coming the fact that the new stories they are starting to tell will have a real impact on their lives. Can the author find something to work with for her manuscript, and will the locals find the cause of the explosion? Read this cozy mystery to find out!

Just Another Dead Author is the second book in the Berit Gardner series by Katarina Bivald. If you thought that the first book in this series was lots of fun and full of intrigue, then check out the sequel in this cozy mystery series to see what you think.

Berit Gardner is a mystery author who has had her fill of adventure when it comes to being involved in things such as murder or unexpected killings. She’s looking forward to taking a much-needed break from Great Diddling by going abroad, where surely nothing nefarious could ever happen.

She agreed to go to a writer’s conference that was held in the French countryside. It’s tough not to romanticize what the visit will be like. Berit has visions of spending time in the sun and meeting interesting new people. However, the vacation takes a turn for the worse when the keynote speaker ends up actually dropping dead when her lecture concludes.

Part of Berit thinks that her lecture could not have been that bad to cause something like this, but soon there are rumors of foul play going around. It wouldn’t be that surprising that someone would have it out for the writer. He was well known for his biting critical style. The author quickly starts to realize that she has inadvertently become part of a web of betrayal, jealousy, and grudges.

Then the French commissaire comes in. She’s not that happy to have an author in the mix, especially when she’s trying to investigate. Then more suspects start to accrue, and each of them has a motive for wanting the writer to die. She has to accept that the instincts Berit has could help to open up this case.

Never have the stakes been higher, and every clue that they uncover seems to take them closer to the answer. Making things worse than ever, a young journalist on the scene wants to solve the mystery before Berit. However, they inadvertently make themselves a target for the killer.

Berit now has to make her way through all types of danger while doing her best to protect the reporter. But they’re all running out of time faster than they would like. Can Berit solve a mystery before it’s too late? Read this book from Katarina Bivald to find out!
