Even the Wingless is the first book in the Princes’ Game series. The book follows Lisinthir Nase Galare who is the Alliance’s thirteenth emissary. Previously, the Alliance had sent twelve other ambassadors to the Chatcaavan Empire, but they all returned defeated. Their mission is to take to the brutal Chatcaavan Empire and hold them accountable for the violations of the treaty. Galare is a duelist, an esper and a prince of his people so he is the right man to send, but will he be as unsuccessful as his predecessors? Or will he manage to head to the Chatcaavan Empire and teach them how to fear as well as how to love?
The Princes’ Game series continues with Some Things Transcend. The story picks up after the first book and sees Lisinthir Nase Galare accepting an exile that he believes would kill him. Without his duty or his beloved, Galare had nothing left. His escort home includes two psychiatrists as if he is a broken man in need of therapy. One of the two was an Eldritch, a species that he considers to be craven who could not relate to the courage he’s needed to make the sacrifices he’s made. He’s not sure if they expect him to spill his soul or what, but he’s not interested in that. All of that proves to be the least of his problems as the Emperor’s enemies are looking to ensure that he doesn’t ever make it home.
Dragon’s Fealty is the first book in the Lisinthir’s Heirs series. Lisinthir Lauvet Imthereli, Third of the Chatcaavan Empire, made a promise to his cousins last summer that they would see the birth of his heirs and he would attend see the birth of theirs. He returns to them after a long winter and he’s not alone in returning as the culture is starting to burgeon as well. However, these aren’t the only things make their returns. There was a mistake made during the summer season that is coming back to haunt them and Lisinthir is caught in the middle. With warring allegiances on each side, someone will pay the price for the mistake.
The Dreamhealers series begins with Mindtouch. The xenopsychology program at Seersana University is considered to be the best in worlds. The best of the best therapists, psychiatric nurses, and alien researchers come from Seersana. Jahir is a reclusive Eldritch espers who has just arrived on campus and finds himself unprepared for the multicultural society that exists on campus. He gets a sense of relief when he meets a second-year student named Vasiht’h who takes him under his wing. The two are different and have troubles, but if they manage to work together this has the makings of a once-in-a-lifetime partnership.
Mindline is the second book in the Dreamhealers series. The story begins as Jahir accepts one of the most coveted residencies in xenotherapy. The residency is great for his education and his potential future, but it costs him many of the relationships that he has fostered since he began here. He finds himself unprepared for the reality of being an esper in a large hospital. He soon finds himself questioning his decision to leave university and head here. Vasiht’h follows behind him soon after and he hopes to help his friend get through this or take him back to university. However, a storm is heading their way and it will test their friendship and their lives.
The Alysha Forrest series begins with Second. In this book, Ensign Taylitha Basil is dropped off for officer training at Quickwater Preserve. She isn’t quite sure what to expect as she’s not much of an outdoors person. A hike up the mountain and a canoe ride aren’t quite what she had in mind, nor is an obnoxious peer who has declared himself the boss. It would seem tough, but it all becomes worth it when she meets Alysha Forrest. These two would go on to serve together for years, but that’s all in the future. This book covers how the two met and grew their relationship during training that ends up being far more dangerous than anyone could’ve imagined going in.
Conversations with the Ai-Naidar is a unique book as it digs into how Hogarth created her aliens and their languages. The book features seven years of “meta-conversations” that Hogarth had with the aliens in her books as she tried to learn their language and understand their culture. The book not only features those conversations, but notes and insights into Hogarth’s creative process. A must have for anyone who is interested in Hogarth’s work, the creative mind, or the Kherishdar series.
The Jubilee Summer series begins with Healer’s Wedding. The story takes place nearly a year after the end of the Chatcaavan War. Jahir and Sediryl are due to be wed and all of their allies are gathering to celebrate them. Everyone from Queen Ransomed to Lisinthir to friends from their past are due to attend. However, just because of this joyous event doesn’t mean that your problems all go away. Jahir and Sediryl have things that they need to resolve, important things that affect not only them but the world and the Alliance as well. Before they can wed, they’ll need to face one of those challenges head on.
