Libraries can be great places, places that give you books to read and other resources to enjoy. Fall is coming soon in Oliver’s Crossroads, located high up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and cooler weather is coming along with it. There are also colorful leaves coming out for the fall as well as the annual Fall Festival to look forward to.
Helen Bennett serves as the director of the public library. She is very excited for fall, and is getting ready for the spirit of the season by getting out her very best cardigans and trying to celebrate the festive time of year.
There’s also the birding society to consider. It’s hosting its first Owl Prowl, which would allow all of the festival goers to go out into the woods after dark in the chances of being able to hear all of the wild owls out there calling out to each other.
To make matters even more exciting, a wealthy local family has decided to give the library a valuable gift. This would be a first-edition copy of Birds of the Americas by Henry M. Burberry. The book is valuable to the point of being worth millions. For her part, Helen is very happy to add a treasure like this to the collection.
However, when it ends up going missing and on top of that a member of the staff is found dead, she knows that she is going to have yet another mystery on her hands to solve. Luckily she has the help of the other birders to assist with this. Can they take on yet another case and successfully solve it, or will they find that they are out of their depth here?
It’s anyone’s guess what is going to happen next. If Helen has anything to say about it, she’s going to make sure that this is one murder that gets solved. Get a batch of her own chewy chocolate chip pumpkin cookies going too and bake them up with a free recipe included with this book and get ready for a wonderful cozy mystery set in autumn that you won’t want to miss.
