The Waterman is the first book in the Daniel Jacquot series by Martin O’Brien. If you’ve been looking for a new mystery series to enjoy, be sure to give this book a try!

When it comes to death, The Waterman is no everyday killer. But then again, Daniel Jacquot is not your average run of the mill detective, either. Daniel Jacquot frequently makes jokes that the reason that he joined the police force was so that he could make a living and continue to play rugby.

Daniel played for France and even won the victory try when playing in a Five Nations final that was held against the English. It has been nearly two decades later and he is still getting the recognition and the credit for that victory. However, some things have changed in the process.

Now Daniel is working as a chief inspector, and is working homicide with the judiclaire of Marseilles. Tracking down killers is not the same as rugby, but what they have in common is that they are both games that the detective is able to understand.

In addition, Marseilles is also the home ground of Jacquot. Here in the city by the sea a killer has come onto the field of play. He has now drugged, raped, and drowned three young ladies. Daniel Jacquot is assigned to the case.

He has a new partner, a body count that is going up, and a three word tattoo that he can work with. Still, it’s enough to make a start on, and the detective gets closer and closer to getting the methodical murderer. The press are now calling him The Waterman.

Jacquot is going to have to work quickly if he wants to catch this killer, or the body count is only going to go up. Can the detective get some of his best work done in time to put a criminal behind bars? Find out by reading this suspenseful and atmospheric mystery for yourself!

Jackquot and the Master is the second book in the Daniel Jacquot series by Martin O’Brien. If you liked the first book in this series, be sure to keep the adventure going by checking out the sequel and see what you think.

Provence is a beautiful place with a landscape full of light as well as beautiful contrasts and color. It’s the dream of every artist to be there, but dreams can become nightmares. The shadows that are cast are often as dangerous as the deepest and darkest night.

When crimes happen, they call people like Chief Inspector Daniel Jacquot in to handle them. Part of the Cavaillon Regional Crime Squad, the detective gets called over to check out the retreat of an artist. This is a hilltop luxury hotel where it appears that a young lady has been brutally murdered. There are bloodstains that are found there, but so far there is no body.

Jacquot starts his investigation but almost immediately from the outset, it all gets complicated. Among all of the guests are the ones who have the means and the motive to have done this, as well as a plethora of personal secrets that they are of course keeping to themselves, hidden agendas, and their own liaisons to keep to themselves.

Some of these people are also powerful, and no one in this category is very pleased by all of the in depth and probing questions that the Chief Inspector is asking them. On top of all of this is a reclusive and celebrated artist who has many priceless masterworks, as well as a monster who tortures those who look to bask in his glory.

Then a summer storm comes over the hotel and they find not one but two bodies. It becomes clear that they must work quickly to catch a killer who now has shown indications that they are going to strike again. Passions are high, but can the Chief Inspector stay focused enough to track down this criminal and put them away for good? Read this mystery thriller from Martin O’Brien to find out!
