He would pick a stranger’s house, break in, abduct them during the day, and then kill them and then dispose of them in hours. Then he would go back to Alaska, going back to being a construction worker who took care of his daughter.

Maureen Callahan was a journalist. When she first heard about this killer in 2012, she was fascinated by how a killer this big could go undetected for over a decade. A project began that would take up her time over the next few years, getting to the bottom of the story of how the FBI caught Keyes and attempting to figure out what it means that a killer like this man could exist.

Here was a clever killer who may have been caught but also left his randomly committed crimes behind him, and to this day many of this go unsolved. This book is the culmination of many interviews that have taken place over the years with different people in law enforcement and the killer’s life, as well as various research that was uncovered from classified FBI files.
