Alex Drayce (a private bodyguard), with the National Crime Agency now compromised, gets hired to find Sarah and protect her.

However with Britain’s most powerful criminals on their trail, he will have to use every single weapon in his arsenal in order to keep them both alive. Because there is one thing that is certain: Sarah knows something that these people really want to keep hidden, and they will go to any lengths to keep their secret.

While events quickly spiral out of control, Alex has to go on the run, being hunted down by the combined might of the Las Vegas police department, fronted by Detective Naomi Ocean, and this ruthless gang that is out for blood.

However his pursuers should really be war, Alex is not a man that should be taken lightly.

Alex Drayce (a private bodyguard) meets with SIO in charge of Lily his wife’s reopened murder investigation. With all of the forensic evidence connecting her death to the murder of another serving police officer, it should really be an open-and-shut case.

Drayce, once the DNA record comes up blank, goes on a hunt across the city, this one-man army without any rules. He talks to witnesses in a way that the cops can’t, and unearths clues which lead him to this conspiracy between an international organized crime group and the Metropolitan Police.

Risking it all in order to learn the truth, he refuses to rest until those that are responsible get punished, fulfilling a promise that he made to his wife a number of years ago.

This novel switches things up from the first 2 novels in the series, as instead of being on another private bodyguard job, Alex is hunting down his wife’s killer. But buckle up because this is still another high octane ride that keeps you perched on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Max knows how to tell a story and keep his audience fully riveted throughout. His writing is immersive, painting vivid scenes which draw his readers into the dark underbelly of the novel’s excellent plot. There is graphic violence, action, and you root for Alex the entire way through while speeding through the entire thing. There still manages to be quite a bit of emotion in the novel, seeing as how he’s on a personal mission to get revenge.
