This is a Southern gothic thriller that is about two women, a murderer in the making and the cop that is ready to do anything to catch her.

It was two hours before he went missing that Mark Dixon stole a glass of wine. Sophie Braam recounts this to the cops as the bartender is being questioned about this customer. They’re asking for a good reason, as his body has just been discovered completely mutilated. Someone has killed this man.

What the bartender isn’t confiding in the cops is the fact that she is the one who killed him. Officer Nora Martin has just come on with the Bellair Police Department. She’s trying her best to try and learn everything as quickly as she can from Detective Murphy, while also trying to shut out the various gripings that she is hearing here and there from her male peers about a diversity hire.

When Nora meets Sophie, it’s easy for the two of them to share some type of connection over being in a state of shared frustration. As winter becomes spring and there are more bodies, Nora starts to wonder whether there’s something off with the bartender.

Officer Nora has not much to go on, but the more that time goes on, the more that she finds the bartender unnerving and enigmatic. Can she bring the suspicion to Detective Murphy and have him take her seriously, or is the detective going to completely dismiss the concept that the serial killer that is looming over everyone in town is a woman?
