Life is a beach, but things can change quickly when someone gets hurt. Main character Ally Wescott makes the decision to leave her life in London behind and run the bed and breakfast in another town that her grandfather had left to her in his will.

She is now living in Westford, a quiet small village that is every bit the postcard quaint and picturesque place that you would imagine it to be. Everyone there is a local that seems to know each other and it’s a nice change of pace from London. Of course there is some part of Ally that misses her busy life that she chose to left behind, and another part of her that is wondering just how interesting a coastal community with a sleepy vibe can be at the end of the day.

Ally might just be about to find out in a difficult way that this sleepy village might have more to it than first meets the eye. When the body of a young woman turns up on the shore of the beach by her bed and breakfast, everything changes quickly. All of a sudden, Ally is finding that she is suddenly right in the middle of a murder investigation.

There are a lot of questions out there to answer. Who was this young woman, and why was she out there alone? Who was it that had the motive to kill her? Ally has the rekindled friendships of Fran and Lewis to get answers from as well as a handsome detective that she can get information from too who might be able to distract her from everything that is going on.

Ally wants more than anything to get the answers that she’s looking for. Then there’s the fact that the killer is still out there, and he might be even closer to home than she would have suspected. All of a sudden the locals of this close village finds themselves in the midst of rumors and gossip. However, the gossip suddenly comes to a crashing halt when the groom is ultimately discovered. Things have taken a turn for the worse and the body is found on top of a grave instead of under one.

This situation only serves to make Ally more intrigued. She had made a promise to everyone involved that she would keep away from this situation and not get involved at all, and promised that to D.I. Ardent as well. She is trying to keep her promise and is fully intending on doing what she has said until someone she’s closed to gets taken in under the premise of being the main suspect.

As much as she would like to keep her promise, Ally cannot stop herself from getting more involved and doing what she can to protect them. This means finding out who the real killer is so their name can get cleared and they will be free to leave.

Someone in the middle of all of this must know something about what’s going on. Ally truly believes that her friend could not be the culprit. But if they are not the killer, then who out there is? The bed and breakfast owner truly wonders who would have the capacity within themselves to take out a man on his wedding day with his whole life ahead of him.

Then there is another question still lingering: will the killer strike again? Could this be just the first of many victims? Ally is determined to find out.
