The Woman with Two Shadows is a 2022 novel from Sarah James. If you like The Secrets We Kept or Atomic City Girls, you might really enjoy this historical novel that follows one of the most closely held secrets of World War II and a woman who gets caught up in it when she follows her (missing) sister to the city of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Lillian Kaufman has not heard from her twin sister Eleanor ever since she left for a strange job at an Army base somewhere in the state of Tennessee. When she finds out on a phone call that Eleanor has gone missing, she immediately takes a train down to Oak Ridge from New York to try and clear up the matter.

Last Night at the Hollywood Canteen is another fantastic fictional novel from Sarah James. In 1943 Hollywood, the best place to see the stars is the Hollywood Canteen. It’s a club for servicemen that is staffed exclusively by people in show business.

Annie Laurence is a murder mystery playwright new in town after a horrible breakup. She’s hoping to rub elbows with the right stars so that she can get her movie made. But as always, Hollywood is more than just glamour and tinsel.

Then Fiona Farris, a despised film critic, is found dead in the Canteen kitchen. Annie realizes that it could be any one of the volunteers that committed the crime. She falls in with her bitter and cynical friends to try and catch the killer. Each of these people are uniquely unhappy with their career and life and they call themselves the Ambassador’s Club.
