Soraya Palmer is a writer and a licensed social worker.

She was born in Flatbush where she grew up. She is also a social worker who has worked overtime to advocate for survivors of gender-based violence who are up against criminal charges connected to their abuse.

Soraya has also spent time working as a community organizer for young people with the purpose of fighting against gentrification and police brutality.

Her novel was picked by various publications as worth a read. This included being picked as one of the “38 Best New Books to Read in 2023” from Today, being noted by Goodreads as one of the ‘Busiest Debut Novels of the New Year’ and by Elle Magazine as one of the “Best and Most Anticipated Books of 2023” and also selected by Ms. Magazine as one of their “Most Anticipated Feminist Books of 2023”.

Palmer’s writing has been featured in various publications that include Hazzlitt, Electric Literature, Ploughshares, and more. She graduated from the Virginia Tech MFA Program and was awarded a residency at Blue Mountain Center.

Soraya resides in Brooklyn along with Nicholas, her cat.
