Elizabeth A. Reeves is an American author best known for the Unlife, Goldie Locke and Were Bears, Witness Protection for Monsters, and Cindy Eller books. Reeves series of novels are best classified as science fiction and fantasy novels. Though she has been a writer for several years, she is a very private person and as such, there is very little information about her on the web. A popular legend that also appears on her website and social media profile has it that Elizabeth Reeves was born with a book in hand and immediately asked for a pony. While it is not easy to confirm the veracity of the story, horses and books have been very common themes in Reeves’s writing. The author was born in Massachusetts to a father that was a university professor and an artistic mother. She credits her mother for one of the most popular of sayings “If one cannot find a book that they love to read, they need to write a book that they would love to read.” Her family moved to Arizona while she was very young and she spent most of her childhood there. It was during her childhood that she developed her love for history, particularly medieval European, which is the setting for most of her novels. When she is not writing, she loves to hatch chickens, knit, and chase after her husband and four children.

While she is a wife and a mother to four children, she spends most of her time traveling other planets and universes where she takes notes on fantastic happenings. She has been married for over a decade and attests that her husband is one of her favorite people. A self-proclaimed foodie, she asserts that apart from her love for books, she loves chocolate to bits. Food or anything to do with food often finds its way into the novels, which is not surprising given that she has her very own bakery. Given a choice between spending on clothes or quality ingredients, she would drop thousands on ingredients on any day. Apart from her bakery, her family is one of her most treasured things in her life. In fact, her idea of happiness involves family, good friends, good food, some business all balanced out with some quiet time with a book. Her husband Timothy Borden is the greatest love of her life. They are both passionate persons with bad tempers and Reeves says that Tim can sometimes act like a redhead, which suits her perfectly as she is also one. Nonetheless, they are nothing but magic when they are together, and she believes the chemistry between them is a big inspiration for her writing.

While Elizabeth A. Reeves’s works are generally classified as fantasy, some of the novels have many paranormal romance elements. Her novels are easy, fun reads with pleasant and believable characters. Even as they are paranormal romances, they have an element of the cozy in that the characters will sometimes engage in some good old-fashioned baking and some little bit of mystery. Reeves is very good at reworking the very best of fairy tales and making them sweet, lough out loud fun reads. Most of the novel series, including the Goldie Locke and The Were Bears series of novels need to be read in order as their character story lines develop over the course of several novels. Full of mystery and suspense the novels include some of the most common fairy tales that take place in otherworldly settings that borrow a lot from medieval European history. With lead characters having magical powers to transform other characters into frogs, miniature elephants, silky zombie chickens, werewolves, former toads, and three-headed puppies among others, Elizabeth Reeves crafts quite a good story. The supporting characters in the novels have a good backstory and story arcs making them just as interesting and as gripping as the leads. The novels are for the most part written in the great tradition of the chic – lit genre, having many humorous moments and best of all dessert and baking recipes that will make any cozy mystery fan drool.

How (Not) To Kiss A Toad is the first novel of the Cindy Eller series of novels by Elizabeth A. Reeves. It is cute and fun read and is what a fluffy paranormal romance needs to be. Cindy is a witch even as her mother prefers that she be called a Magical Being. While her siblings had passed well on their magical studies, Cindy is the black sheep that flunked every test. Witches are supposed to turn the men they meet into princes, but when she kisses any man, he instantly turns into a toad. One interesting twist is that the uglier the personality of the man, the uglier of a toad they become. She believes that when her soul mate turns up, he will not turn into a frog, but so far, every man has turned into one. What usually happens is that the men that she turns into toads will usually turn back into humans soon after. Things turn ugly when one particularly repulsive toad takes too much time to revert to human form. When she meets a gorgeous man named Timothy at her place of work, she is convinced that he is her soul mate. But now comes the kicker, will she kiss him and will he turn into a toad just like all the rest?

How (Not) To Kiss A Prince 3 sees Cindy and her toady men make a comeback in one of the most hilarious novels in the Cindy Eller series. Cindy is finally beginning to understand herself and her family, while running one of the most popular bakeries in town assisted by family and friends. However, her new amazing boyfriend Timmy goes missing and she believes that her father may have been involved, given that he was not too thrilled with her choice of partner. In the meantime, Jessi has been busy making plans for Cindy spectacular baking skills to be featured on a cooking TV series. Now Cindy has to keep her cool on camera while trying to locate her boyfriend. The relationships and banter between the family and friends is humorous and kind, and Cindy is a great and relatable character that is pretty ambitious and full of life.
