The Hundredth Queen series written by Emily R. King is comprised of a total of 3 books, which were released in the year 2017. The first book of this series has already been published, while the second and third books are expected to be published this year and next year respectively. Its debut novel is entitled ‘The Hundredth Queen’ and was released by the Skyscape publication in June 2017. Author Emily has described the lead character in this book in the form of a female lead named Kalinda. The other important characters of the plot include Rajah Tarek and Captain Deven Naik. At the start of the book’s story, Kalinda is introduced as an 18 year old girl, who is an orphan and lives in the Sisterhood. Everyone believes that she is destined to live a life of prayer and seclusion. Because of suffering from fevers very often, Kalinda seems very unlikely to get chosen as even a servant. And therefore, getting selected to be a wife or courtesan appears to be highly unlikely of her. Due to all these reasons, Kalinda only dreams to spend the rest of her life peacefully in the mountain temple of Sisterhood. However, after the tyrant ruler Rajah Tarek visits the Sisterhood and sets his eyes on Kalinda, her life gets disrupted in a great way. Within no time, she is made to leave her comfortable home and asked to set on a trek in the desert. Kalinda gets taken as the 100th wife of Rajah Tarek. Subsequently, she is ordered to compete against the other 99 wives of Rajah Tarek and a number of other courtesans to find a place for herself. In the middle of such chaos and hardships, the only solace comes in Kalinda’s life when she remains in the company of her stoic and kind guard named Captain Deven. She does not realize when she comes close to Deven and falls in love with him madly. Now, as Kalinda faces the danger of a deadly tournament, in which the chances of her brutal death are quite high, she sees only a single hope of escaping the miseries. And this hope lies in the forbidden, arcane power that lies buried insider her. Kalinda is required to awaken this power and make an attempt to run away with Captain Deven, and thereby obtain her freedom. The central plot of this novel lies in the fact that women compete against each other for getting men’s affections and some other things.

The next installment of the series is called ‘The Fire Queen’. This book is expected to be published in the next month by the Skyscape publishers. Once again, Emily’s story follows the rise of a warrior queen to her destined power in a rich world of forbidden powers and sorcery. At the beginning of the story of this book, it is depicted that Rajah Tarek, with whom Kalind was forcefully married, is dead. Still, Kalinda’s problems do not get over. After a warlord invades the city, Kalinda is forced to live in exile. However, she is not alone. Kalinda has an ally in the role of Captain Deven, who is also her love interest and her guard. However, Deven is imprisoned with charges of treason and his command is stripped off. As the whole empire has come to war, the best hope of Deven and Kalinda lies in finding Prince Ashwin, the son of Rajah Tarek. Ashwin had promised that he will release Deven Naik from prison on the condition that Kalinda will battle against 3 formidable opponents and defeat them. Now, as the tournament strengths of Kalinda are challenged once again, her relationship with Captain Naik is also tested. On one hand, Deven Naik fears Kalinda’s powers, and on the other hand, Prince Ashwin revers her powers as well as the courageous Kalinda. But, she sees Prince Ashwin with regard to the only man who can help save a world disturbed by war. She finds herself torn in between her newly realized respect for Ashwin and her allegiance with Captain Naik.
