New Blood
New Blood the first book in the City Hospital series, switches between five characters Mark, Gordy, Karlene, Bella, and Suzie. They are sharing a house and are all medical students in a city hospital. One day as Suzie is in the bathroom she witnesses car theft from the window, and she is unable to do anything about it. She feels terrible after discovering that the thief caused an accident and this affects her so much. Her roommates try to cheer her up and even host a party at their house. However, the party does not go as per their plan because of an angry neighbor who does not want the noise.
Bella due to her attitude turns up the music and talks bad not caring about the neighbor. She is so much into the party and only thinks about her and did not look like caring about others. Things go out of control and leave Bella feeling guilty, and she has to learn an important lesson after which she will change. Karlene receives a seriously injured patient and has to figure out what to do in that situation. She is aware that the victim is hit by the car in the hit and run accident, and they still have not caught the car thief who injured the patient. The police need the witness, but Suzie is afraid of speaking out.
The characters make some mistakes and find themselves in some difficult situations which they eventually solve. The author’s writing style is fluent, quick and vivid. Mark is a great character, and you find yourself liking him. Suzie is fantastic, and even though she faces challenges while making tough decisions, she does her best.
Flames
Flames is the second book in City Hospital series. Bella and mark are nurses in training, and their current assignment is to work in the psychiatrist ward. Though Bella may be fierce and sometimes easily annoyed in her personal life, she cares for her patients a lot.
Recently there has been a fire that broke, and Karlene knows the victims. The fire has caused the death of her friend’s father, while the brother is left badly burned. She wants to find out what went on that night when the house vanished in flames, and she is trying her best to help Janie, her friend.
Each of the five characters has a lot of issues to deal with, and fortunately, they can rely on each other for support. You can learn a lot from the five main characters after reading the book. There seems to be always something happening, and the setup of the busy hospital is interesting. Gordy is a confident character and together with Bella like and support each other.
Karlene is very determined, and she is usually calm and a great listener making a very charming character, while Suzie is also good and ever feeling insecure. Most of the times she uses a friend and fortunately Mark is always there to help her out. Mark is a self-driven character and wants to be the best nurse. The book is interesting to read especially about the quarrels and small issues of the five housemates and how they solve their problems. The author narrates the story vividly making you feel like you are watching a film in the head.
Bullet Hole
Bullet Hole is the first book in the Alan Saxon series. The main character Alan Saxon is a professional golfer and winner of the British Pen in the early days of his career and has not won again for eighteen years now. He seems to have some problems and uses the investigative skills he inherited from his policeman father to find out why the troubles seem to be following him.
He is grateful for the skills he has and his father thought that he could choose some other career apart from the golf which appears to be a waste of time. Meanwhile, Alan has some close people in his life; Rosemary, his ex-wife with who he has a love-hate relationship Lynette a teenage daughter who he adores and Fiona, his current lover and wants to spend the rest of life with. Clive is a journalist who still promotes him the same way he did it many years back when he won.
Though Alan has not been successful for some time now, this might be his year of winning, but it seems that there is someone who does not want this to happen. One day he offers a lovely young lady ride on his way to. Andrew’s and three days later he gets news that the lady was killed. The news leaves him in shock and requests his assistant to stay away from for some time to enable Saxon to make a charge. While making the charge, he is almost killed to keep him off from going on with the match.
He spends most of his time on interviews with the police while doing the press. Saxon realizes that the contempt for his father is as a result of the reluctance of the local policemen. His desire for investigating when he should be reporting to the police does not look good especially now when the suspect that he is either the killer or the target.
The author keeps the story fast-paced and skillfully weaves the main figure in the championship. Whether you are a golf fan or a mystery lover, there is much engrossed in the Bullet Hole which will keep you entertained.
