Author Dana was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. She was fond of reading and writing romantic stories from a very early age. She was just 13 years old when she penned her first short story. Dana wished her desire to pursue a career in creative writing after she passed middle grade. So, her parents admitted her to the High School for Creative & Performing Arts.
During her time at the school, Dana was able to express herself with full freedom just like all the other children in the school. This helped her greatly in the long run and helped her to shape her career as well. After high school, Dana’s parents had to relocate to a different city. As a result, she had to join a Catholic school for her further studies in the senior year. Dana hated being in that school as she had no access to creativity or creative scripts. She was desperate to run away and even tried to escape, but was caught every time by the strict nuns of the school. Eventually, Dana completed her graduation with honors in spite of resisting all along. Throughout her life, she has lived mostly in the Northeast, including New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. For a short duration, Dana has also resided on the Virgin Island of St Croix.

She has a bull terrier and a cat. Currently, author Dana is busy with the next novel in line. She makes sure to publish at least one book every year so that her fans don’t have to wait for longer durations to enjoy her new books. Dana likes to describe herself as vertically challenged. She loves anime and video games a lot. Due to her medical conditions of ankylosing spondylitis and fibromyalgia, she is forced to take the support of a cane while walking. Author Dana loves to interact with reviewers, booksellers, journalists, and readers. She keeps in touch with them through various social media platforms as well as a personal website.
One of the widely successful book series written by author Dana Maria Bell is known as the Heart’s Desire series. It is comprised of a total of 4 books released between 2009 and 2015. Each book of this series revolves around the romance stories of paranormal creatures like shapeshifters and werewolves. Some essential characters mentioned in the books of this series by Dana include Christopher Beckett, Alannah Evans, Zachary Beckett, Johra Yashodar, Gareth Beckett, Genevieve Godwin, Daniel Beckett, Kerry Andrews, Arthur Godwin, etc. This series contains a lot of explicit sex scenes and graphic language. Therefore, it is recommended only for adult readers. The debut book of the series is entitled ‘Shadow of the Wolf’. It was released in 2009 by the Liquid Silver publication. The book begins by introducing Christopher Beckett as a werewolf. He is forced to live a lonely life and becomes tired of it.
When the wolf inside Chris begins to howl desperately for a mate, he realizes that it is time for him to keep everything aside and look for his partner. Chris decides to cast the spell that every other Beckett before him has used to attract their mates towards them. Christopher Beckett wishes for a woman belonging to an old lineage and who possesses a power equal to the one he has. Also, Chris wants his mate to accept his wolf aspect as it is the one thing that sets him apart from other wizards. Christopher Beckett’s mate turns out to be Alannah Evans, who is a witch belonging to the powerful Evans Coven. Alannah doesn’t seem to have any problems with Chris. However, it bothers her that he is a wizard because she fears that they won’t get along well as she is a witch. In spite of that, they seem to get attracted to one another. Later, an old enemy tries to kill both Alannah and Chris. Chris cannot see his mate dying in front of him. He engages in a duel battle with his enemy without worrying about losing his own life in the process.
The second volume of this series is called ‘Hecate’s Own’. It was published by the Samhain Publishing Ltd in 2013. The main characters of this novel include Johra Yashodar and Zachary Beckett. Dana has set the plot in Cleveland. Initially, it is mentioned in the book that Zachary Beckett has always been a screw-up all his life. He does one thing right when he saves his brother from an enemy, but it comes at a great personal cost to him. After this incident, Zachary is sent to Cleveland to undergo training as a witch. At his training center, he comes across his teacher named Johra Yashodar, who thinks that he is still the same screwed up person that he used to be before. It doesn’t take much time for Zachary Beckett to fall for his beautiful teacher.
Johra has never come across a man like Zach. She feels haunted by his blue eyes and thinks that he is the worst witch that has ever come to train under her. But, she is willing to help him and make him a better witch. And in order to do that, Johra has to suppress the attraction that keeps drawing her close to the man. Soon after, Zachary Beckett learns that he has a power of his own and turns into a Hecate’s Own. It turns out that Zach has been selected by the Goddess to fight and defeat the evil. He joins his brothers to save Johra Yashodar from a deadly fate that she doesn’t seem to have any idea about. This novel also contains graphic language and explicit sex sequences. It was liked by numerous readers all over the world. The success of this novel helped Dana to add a few more titles to the series.
